that drive must of just been added to newegg a few days ago, I ordered all the parts for my new computer and had to pickup a ide with a rounded cable because the only sata dvd burner they had was a plextor for $105..figures heh. Might have to order one of those satas though...sata cable is SO much better for case airflow than a ide, even a rounded one...

I ordered that retail LiteOn over the weekend, should get here soon. Figured that the software disc plus the extra face plate (can go beige or black) was worth the $3 extra.

Awesome, thanks for the benchies!
I'd be interested in seeing read speeds as well, since the access times are rather high at 160ms.

Anyone else benchmark theirs yet?

Microcenter has the same model for $49.99 if you have a microcenter locally.

Which drive are you talking about?

I just looked at microcenter's website and they only have one SATA dvd drive, at 129.99

Plextor Drive

THIS is the drive he's talking about. $49.99 and it appears to be the same drive as the Best Buy one. I am going to MicroCenter today and will confirm.

I never knew they were the same...I assume chiefvalue ships out as quick as newegg too?

when I recieved an order from newegg and chiefvalue a couple of weeks ago... they had the same newegg flier in it. and the packing slip was identicle, except for header on top. maybe newegg is absorbing chiefvalue.
