Taken from Phandroid:
If this isn’t just the funnie- I mean, most cruel thing ever, then I don’t know what is. Samsung has gone ahead and published the Samsung Fascinate’s Froyo source code well before Verizon has made mention of its official OTA upgrade. Yea, I can see you steaming over there. You shouldn’t be, though, because source means ROM developers will be able to bring more stable Froyo-injected wares sooner than you can call Verizon and demand to speak to a supervisor in futile attempts to get your OTA upgrade. Developers, start your engines and get downloading over at Samsung’s website.

Goodness knows I've been waiting long enough, hopefully this means VZW is on the brink of releasing the official OTA update.

This is Samsung way of saying it's not us but them without directly coming out and saying it. Is there any doubt now who's at fault here?

Yep...now people can stop pointing fingers at them.

I'm still inclined to blame Samsung. If you don't think they have some leverage here, you're crazy. If anything, they could just post the update on their site with instructions to install it, bypassing Verizon's network entirely.

Their contract with Verizon might preclude that.

So Verizon doesn't release an update that Samsung has clearly completed yet it's still Samsung's fault?

I believe Samsung is to blame for the initial delay, but considering all the other US and Worldwide carriers have had Froyo for a while, I'm thinking this is falling more and more on Verizon.

Considering that HTC and Motorola haven't had such problems getting updates out, I'm not really sure why Verizon, or any other carrier, would single out Samsung. For all we know Samsung just finished with their update code and released it so they wouldn't have to wait a few weeks/months for Verizon to do further testing.

The speculation is that the OTA will drop on Monday.

When the Epic got 2.2 Samsung released source on Friday then the following Monday the OTA hit.

You're just full of hatred for Samsung. They're a very solid brand with great designs and hardware to back it up. The software is usually nothing to brag about, but it's always up to par.

Them releasing the Froyo source code for the Fascinate is obviously them saying that they've given the code to Verizon and it's Verizon who is holding up the release. What's so hard to understand about that?

What exactly are they going to do to force Verizon to push it out? Threaten to not have more phones on their network? No way. Verizon is a huge money maker for them and they are pretty much stuck with whatever Verizon wants to do.
