Samsung RAM

Samsung is decent, but you can get a gig of Corsair memory at Newegg for $28 more. (Corsair Value Select (Dual Pack) 184 Pin 512MBx2 DDR PC-3200)

Too bad, I'm Canadian and Newegg doesn't ship up here. 🙁 That's why I'm asking this. This is the best bargain we've had in a long time.

No point in spending $28, they are both value ram, period.

No answer your question, yes, Samsung makes good memory if this seems like a good deal I would go for it.

Samsung is top quality but as mentioned this is value RAM...OCZ has been known to use their selective chips...

samsung's market share(worldwide) for ram is #1
never had problem with samsung ram. i been buying samsung ram for 10 years.

i also have ddr400 512mb ram, works great. never freezed my computer.

Samsung silicon is tops - Corsair uses hand selected Samsung silicon exclusively on their high-end memory modules. 100% Samsung modules are also excellent.

Pretty much all of the ram you buy is made by Samsung or Micron. They make various flavors to spec for others such as Crucial, Corsair etc.....

There are not very many actual ram manufacturers.

Actually there are quite a few RAM chip makers - it's just that you don't see many of them any more because they are not price competitive. There were at least three in S. Korea alone: Samsung, Hynix (formerly Hyundai) and Goldstar (not sure if they still make RAM chips). Toshiba, Hitachi and Fuji in Japan. Winbond, and at least one other in Taiwan. Not sure where Infineon's (formerly Siemens) factory is located and Micron/Crucial and I think TI still makes some RAM in the US.
