Samsung ram or ripjaws

I upgraded from g skill rip jaws x 1866 cas 9 1.5v to samsung 30 nm. Both 4x4gb. I can run Samsung at 2000 cas 9 and not tried higher. Mostly a side grade but I didn't need to shell out from my pocket.

Out of the box would be better the ripjaws cause the cas latency is lower ... however the performance difference is so negligible that you wouldn't even notice the difference in real-world applications.

So I would say the Samsung are preferred, but not only for the great overclocks they give but also for the fact that they are low profile and low voltage.

Stock speeds are completely determined by the specifications, two kits with the same specs will perform identically. In this case the Ripjaws kit is faster due to tighter timings. However, the other benefits of the Samsung kit (lower voltage, great overclockers, no stupid heatspreaders) far outweigh a trivial difference in timings.
