Samsung RAM not being recognized in A8N-0SLI mobo

Hello, I just recently got another 512 MB of Samsung RAM to add to the two 512 chips in my motherboard already. This would add up to 1.5gigs. However, I am having a problem because I put the RAM chip into the black DIMM slot for I had to other 2 chips in the blue ones. I put the chip in one, but then a voice stated during startup warning memory system error. So then I put it in the other black DIMM slot and the computer loaded up, but now only says there is 1 gig of RAM in my computer instead of 1.5. Do I need to change anything in BIOS or the like? Thanks, and the RAM is the same that I got that is currently in my motherboard.

In dual channel mobos, there should be equal amounts in each channel. It should work in theory I think, but bad things almost always happen with uneven amounts, like not being able to boot or not seeing the extra RAM. Try getting another stick and see if that fixes the problem.
