Samsung R710 good choice?

I'm a web developer, looking for a laptop so I can work on the move. Portability isn't really an issue. Want something with a big screen (used to 2 20" LCDs). DON'T want stupid high res (1920 on a 17" screen will kill my eyes). Vista & lots of memory, decent sized hard disk. Something that looks nice and doesn't cost a bomb, and will last me a few years. Will be using a UMTS/HSDPA card for internet on the move.

I've picked the Samsung R710 so far. Heard good things about Samsung, and really like the look of it. 17" screen running at a "lowly" 1440x900 which I think will be ideal for me. Will be getting the middle model which has 2.4ghz and 320gb drive. No blu-ray drive but I don't forsee me needing/wanting one.

More info here: http://www.samsung.com/uk/touchofcolour

Anyone think it's a good choice? Anyone recommend something above it for my needs?

FWIW in the UK that laptop will retail at £800 when it's available next week, I don't know about US pricing.

PS I don't care much about gaming/graphics, but would be quite upset if it couldn't play a downloaded 1080p HD movie etc, do you think it'd cope with that?

PPS I know I said "on the move" and then "portability isn't a concern". I'm not contradicting myself. I want something so I can work from wherever I happen to be, but I don't really care how easy it is to carry it around.

Actually, just been to a few shops. Regardless of friends' past experiences, I think my money will be going to Sony. VGN-FW11E, just looks SO much nicer than anything else, samsungs included. Not a bad spec for the money either, £720.
