I just upgraded to this TV from a Samsung LN-T4669FX and what a difference from LCD to plasma.

Sure the increase in size is nice from 46 to 64 inchs but I wasn't expecting even better viewing angles and the huge difference in blacks.

After hooking it up I put on the HTPC and just wanted to test some media and I couldn't believe the difference in detail and colour I was seeing stuff in the background in movies I couldn't see before.

The HTPC is hooked up to a 4 port switch just below the TV both are wired to the network even though I have an access point there. I have disabled motion control and voice control since I don't use those. i checked the youtube app and it was ok that was probably the only smart feature I used.

Also can't say much for the new remote as i'm using a Harmony One.

I am now officially a plasma lover and I looked at LED also and picture quality was still inferior.

What did you pay? Local or online? I am searching for a 60+ Plasma myself.

Local

I got a deal because one of my friends is tight with the store owner and they marked it down cause the bezel has a tiny scratch on it that is barely visible lol.

I payed $1800 :sneaky:

I bought a 51" samsung plasma smart tv in April. Perfect size for room and fantastic for movies and sports.

glad you like it I really didn't know what I was missing with the LCD's until I sat down infront of this beauty.

And yes you can look instore but the light conditions are usually way to bright which makes LED's stand out.

However in my home the tv is in a darker room and I have full control of lighting i'm couldn't be more happier.

And I know my next set with be OLED cause I will be keeping this one for alteast 4-5 years.

Instead of creating a new thread i'm going to bump this one.

I currently don't have a 3d blue ray player in the house and need to get one.

Do I upgrade the blueray player in my HTPC to 3d or is it better to buy a standalone player?

What are the pros and cons for either setup??
