Can anyone tell me why my Samsung 42 inch plasma TV has a white vertical bar one quarter of the width of the screen on the left side?

I guess a little humor is always important. But seriously though, I feel a board inside is gone. Problem is, I don't know which one. Need some help identifying which one.

My Hitachi TV did the same thing, I got a new one.

Google tells me that "sometimes this is caused by a loose or poorly seated ribbon cable connector where it attaches to the panel module. Re-seating it or wiggling it may fix the issue."

I purchased a new Sansung. Within 6 months a black bar showed up on the screen. Fortunately the TV was under warranty. They replaced the power supply. The tech said it was probably caused by a power spike and suggested we use a Backup Power Supply, like the type you use for a computer. We bought one large enough for our TV and so far, it has been about 6 years without any problem. Obviously I can't say for sure this is the problem with your TV.
