Article Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 review

ahh you plebian (sarcasm and joke)

Real walls of light are 38inches, and have RGB in the rear too.

If I was a gamer I'd love that. I honestly think that 34" is ideal for me. Sometimes, I hate the "wall", but I love having basically two monitors in one.

And it is cool for gaming. I just don't game that much. So, getting an even w-i-d-e-r screen would be trippy. I would say that would be great for racing games for sure.

The only thing that makes me go erg about the 2400 price tag is no gsync ultimate.
Which means it has no dedicated gsync module.
That is to me a BLERGHDSAF for a 2400 dollar monitor.

Does the gsync module support 5120x1440@240hz?
But otherwise I would also rather pay $2600 for the monitor with a gsync module. But in the end it is still too expensive just for adding hdr over the regular g9.

Is the gsync module really needed anymore? The "gsync compatible" displays (including freesync and HDMI 2.1 VRR) seem to be just as good in practice.

There is no such thing as "too big" when it comes to monitors. I use a 77" display and wouldn't mind one even bigger. 😀

yes without blinking twice...

i have both, and the main factor which made me get the alienware over the LG was the gsync module, and also the dedicated fan for it doesn't roar like Acer's

Besides the fan, what are the main benefits of the module?

Personally I would like a vrr range that starts at 30hz, but that is mainly because I'm stuck with my 1070 😛

other then better HDR effects...
I see less shutter @ higher fps.

OF course both are moot if you do not have a card powerful enough to drive your monitor @ higher then 75Hz.

I've thought about it, but right now I have 3 x 4k monitors (27", 32", 27") and like have separate panels. I'm holding out for a good 32" or less 4k panel that does 144hz with decent HDR and HDMI 2.1. Not too many options right now and the ones are twice the cost of a LG 48" OLED which just doesn't feel right.

i went though too many combinations.... and ultimately settled on having a 38 ultrawide gsync ultimate, with a 34 ultrawide and a 32 4k in profile orientation.

I honestly thought it out but the G9 is just too wide to use as my main driving display over a 38 which has 1600p on top.

I tried a single large center display with a ASUS PG43UQ

didn't like it too much.
It was too big IMO... maybe if it was 40 inches.... possibly... but i have gotten too used to ultrawides that i honestly do not think i can go down, and again the G9 is just too wide for a main driven display, as i do other stuff then just gaming.

I want to replace that 32 4K in profile mode tho.
But am very limited in what monitors i can put there.
I did actually think of putting another ultrawide but i think i get more from a 4K.

I am kinda disappointed tho that samsung didn't make the G9 1600p.
I can really tell the difference of having that little extra vertical over a 1440p.

Would you have bought it if it were 1600p?

maybe... but not 100% sure.
It would probably then be too massive in size having both width and length.

Im not sure if it would of fit on my new desk to begin with.

I have the G9 (Older generation) and while the display itself is actually quite nice, the firmware is absolute garbage, and the monitor can't actually do 240hz. (None of the pre-Neo G9s are actually capable of doing 240hz...they will interlace in many different instances if you enable 240hz mode)
