Samsung New TV

Samsung had a new Smart HDTV that has Voice control, Face Recognition, and Hand Jesture control. Might be nice for a handicapped person. Makes me wonder where the TV ends and the Computer begins. It must have some kind of CPU and technically be a computer. They should make the TV with a kind of plug-in removeable Computer Module that can be upgraded.

So someone has to be developing some kind of operating system for this thing.

The new Samsung ES8000 series have an upgradeable SoC module. However, Samsung's new unilateral pricing policy means no more TV discounts from Amazon. Period. So I went out and bought a TV from Samsung's 2011 lineup (UN60D7000).

There already is an OS on it, you just don't have any real access or control over it.

Actually from what I read there are some program you can put on your PC that interact with it, and If you have a model with the Ethernet or wireless there is an option to check for an upgrade. It must just fix glitches or something. Yes I am a fanatic and like to download the manuals and read them. I was looking to buy a TV with more features with less money. It seems like everytime congress borrows another trillion, our $$$ buy less hardware. Anyway I was just kicking the tires. I dont think I will buy a TV for $3,500 any time soon. However, I hooked up a new computer to my TV for watching Internet Videos and my wife kind of likes the giant computer monitor kind of idea. Maybe a 40" Monitor is kind of large, but if you are over 50 and you eyesight isnt what it use to be it looks pretty good.
