I thought the starter toner drum was for 3000 pages. Shouldn't the normal drum refill for $30 be good for 6000-8000 pages?

I got mine from a B&M when it was 39.99 earlier this year. I have it networked without any issues so far. I havent tried the duplex feature yet.

toner is 24.60 at monoprice but shipping would be high for just the toner...

when you are talking toner, you are talking the new or refurbished/refilled ?
- and how high is shipping? i am looking to get a few at a time even though i only print 500-1,000 pages a week, max

i believe that it is $85 for the toner/drum at OM :p

how about refilling it? i understand you can do it a couple of times

ANYway, i just got mine home. i think i will be printing my own flyers from now on

For toner, go to monoprice.com. I just bought toner for my Samsung 1740ML printer, and it seems to work fine. The toner was $25 shipped, and comes with a new print drum.

Edit - Just saw reference to monoprice above

The duplex feature is manual. It prints the odd pages, and then asks you to load the pages again so it can print on the other side.

I got this the last time it was on sale and despite some negative reviews citing a flawed paper loading mechanism, I haven't had any problems yet. Prints bloody fast compared to my old inkjet, though it does seem to draw a lot of electricity when printing (sometimes makes my lights flicker just a tiny bit). When it isn't printing though, none of that.

Actually you can get this for minus 20 bucks. Buy at Staple's and price match to OM. When the rebate prints at the register, they will pitch a fit:)

Tell them you don't want the rebate, then go home and submit it online. It is a Staple's easy rebate, the numbers are on your receipt:)

Bottom line is you get a new printer, and they pay you 20 bucks when the rebate comes in.

I did it this morning worth going out in the holiday crowds:)

That's the reason we're not using our 1710 or 1740 (whatever it is). It triggered UPS protection on startup every single time and sometimes even triggered circuitbreakers in our old apartment. HP1000 might be a POS printer compared to it, but at least we've had zero issues power wise with it.
