Samsung ML-2252W Monochrome Laser Printer - Buy 1 Get 1 FREE!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's a pretty damn good deal!!!!!!!!!!

With its attractive design, small footprint and unbeatable price, the wireless and network-ready ML-2252W will forever expand the possibilities of workgroup printing.

A high-resolution 1200 x 1200 dpi laser print engine delivers sharp, professional-quality text and graphics, while a 30, 000-page monthly duty cycle and industry-recognized Samsung reliability combine to create a machine you never have to think about.

Fast print speeds up to 22 ppm combine with fast USB 2.0, IEEE-1284, 10/100Base-TX and 802.11b wireless connectivity to make quick work of even the largest documents. All thanks in part to a fast 166 MHz processor and 16 MB memory expandable to 144 MB.

With a high-capacity 250-sheet cassette, 50-sheet multipurpose tray and optional 250-sheet cassette, the ML-2252W lets you print up to 550 pages without ever having to reload. A simple one-piece cartridge makes for quick toner changes. And an easy-to-read LCD and one-step paper jam recovery make for quick and easy troubleshooting that makes the whole office more productive.

Samsung exclusive TonerSave mode increases toner yield by up to 40% with the touch of a button.

No duplexing though. 8>(

I was thinking of getting ONE of these Brother Laserjets for $214, replace my Epson inkjet on the Linux server which shares printers very nicely. I am getting tired of inkjets and it seems this one will work. Any thoughts?

The Samsung is outstanding quality. I wouldn't insult them by comparing one to a Brother. Brother units are a joke, and always have been a joke. The drum and toner cartridge are seperate mechanism's, costing you 3x more down the road. The price of toner should be reflected in the substantially simpler toner cartridge design (NO DRUM!) but it isn't.

i.e. Samsung laser printer $250, toner $60, yeild 2500-3000
i.e. Brother laser printer $200, toner $60, drum $100 (every 10,000-15,000 pages), yeild 3000.

All of those prices are real world figures. You tell me what's the better value. Then, you have to consider the crappy Brother feeding paths, drivers and support. Search google and thou shale knowth.

I agree. My sister had two Brothers, a 1250 I think and a 1440 that went out in what seems like a year. Both drums needed replacing, and she didn't print much. At work we have a 1440 also, and I swear when we buy the 460 toner cartridge (it's supposed to be double the toner compared to the 430 toner, 6K to 3K sheets), and it still only gets 3K copies or less. I personally think Brother is scamming people with the toner amounts, because it's happened more than once.
You are also correct about the crappy feeding paths. When I need to run labels I switch to an old Samsung 4500 we have at work because it runs Avery labels evenly and the 1440 does not. I used to have to run 2 sheets of labels on the 1440 just to get one sheets worth of labels. Sorry for the rant but Brother printers just get my blood boiling. I also have a Samsung ML-1210 I've had for three years at home that still works perfectly

Anyone else have opinions on this? I was also considering the Brother 51x0 line, though the Samsung 225x line has recently caught my eye. In particular, I'm curious about the actual toner yield (and drum as well).

EDIT- oh, and out of curiosity, where are you seeing the Samsung toner for $60? The cheapest I'm seeing it for is $80.

I too owned a Brother multifunction laser printer, fax, phone, scanner, et cetera which stopped working after two years. Purchased a Samsung ML-1700 when the brother died and its working today like I bought it yesterday.

Dammit, just out of my parents' price range, plus dealing with the second unit would be a pain... but it's got its own print server.. neato!

Another "Brothers"-- BAD comment!

1440 continues to CURL paper, which is really annoying when duplexing.

Check out Minolta, most times $99.00 or less.🙁:disgust:

how do these compare to hp laser printers? my 1100 is still going strong but when it dies, the samsung ones are usually a good price, but i am not sure about their quality. this thread has taught me that brother sucks, but please compare to hp.

thanks 😉

I've had two or three Samsung and they have been very reliable. (The older ones get shipped out with the kids.)

I'm currently running a 1740 at home and there have been no problems. One plus is that it is rather easy to refill with toner. Simply take out a plug (requires a little doing), add the toner, and put the plug back in. My original cartridge is on its second refill.

Once the cartridge dies, its usually cheaper to snag a new deal of Anandtech and to pitch the original device. (Seems kinda wasteful, though.)
