***Samsung ML-1250 Laser Printer Q***

This printer comes built in with 4mb of RAM, with the option to expand to 68 mb. I recently plugged in some 72-pin EDO SIMM (16 mb) into the printer to make 20 mb in total. Does anyone know how to verify that the laser printer is actually recognizing and using the newly added RAM??? Is there something that I can pull up in windows that shows this information?? I've been searching all over the web for how to find this info...but no luck...does anyone have any ideas??? I am running Win2K if it makes any difference...

Thanx a bunch

I think if you print one of those test pages, it should show you. There should be some sequence of buttons that you can press on the printer that will print out that page. Hope this helps. BTW: Welcome! 🙂

Thanx for the welcome! These boards are GREAT! 🙂

Hmm...there is a "demo" page button...but that only prints out what it seems like a pre-stored image...(ie. nothing generated from reading some information register inside the printer). I've also tried the "Print Test Page" in "Printer Properties"..but that just prints out my driver files... I know that some laser printers have inside their "Printer Properties" settings a "Device Properties" tab that shows this information...but not the ML-1250....*sigh*....its a small problem...buts its really bugging me...

I guess the only real way to tell right now is to send a big job to the printer and seeing how long it takes to spool and print. 😛

Eug's Samsung ML-4600....

This thread reminded me to stick in one of the weird looking memory modules I pulled out of some ancient computer 6 months ago.

Pre-memory install: Demo page says RAM size 4 MB.

Post-memory install: Demo page says RAM size 8 MB.

Thus, look more closely at that "pre-stored image" printed by holding down the <DEMO> button. Hopefully your ML-1250's page is like my ML-4600's.

Ok...I tried the demo page again...there is a part that mentions memory...but it just doesn't look too convincing...here is a Pic of the Demo Page

Does your ML-4600 demo page look like that Eug??

Thanx for all your help guys...

On mine the installed memory is in a box on the right side of the page under the printer pic. Also lists the number of pages printed.

Hmm...I don't have that "box" on my demo page...that's why I thought the demo page looked "pre-stored"....=P Thanx for your help though....ok....now SOMEONE has to have this same printer and knows how to get this info!! 😀
