Samsung Memory sticks refuse to play nicely with one another

I have 2 sticks of registered ecc ddr pc 333 samsung. ONe is low profile and the other is normal stick.

In my Asus dual athlon (A7M-266-d) crashes very frequently with both stifcks of ram installed, however when a single dimm is used, there is no instability.

I have the latest bios, these sticks are 512mb modules.

Can anyone help me out in tracking down the source of the problem,?
