Installed the latest version of Samsung Magician and it says the SSD drive is using the latest firmware.

The firmware downloads section lists a newer version though.

Who should I believe? Is the Magician preloaded with firmwares and checking only against them?

It'll probably eventually show up in Samsung Magician. If not, the new firmware may just be a firmware targeted at a specific group of drives (maybe ones that have a different set of components??) that your particular unit is not included in.

Who knows? We are talking about Samsung here - they have a tendency to do a lot of stupid things.

I've noticed this on an 840 Evo too, but didn't have the time to look further into it.
Anyone with an older Samsung drive that noticed the same behavior from Magician?

It will likely hit the software at some point.

I have 2 960 Pros that for have had 4B6QCXP7 firmware since day 1, while Samsung shows 2B6QCXP7 as the newest available.

Interesting. I've always used Magician for firmware updates but never actually thought to look online... didn't know you could.

I'm still not 100% sold on the look and feel of the new Magician UI
