Hello everyone, first post here so if any of this is better suited in another section I apologize in advance.

I'm going to start by listing my devices, then I'll explain what I want to achieve.

TV: Samsung UE46F8000
BD: ???
Soundbar: Samsung HW-F751
Extra: Playstation 4, ZON (Cable Provider) Set Top Box

Ok, so the TV has 3 HDMI (in), I have all 3 of them in use: 1 from my set top box, 1 from my Playstation 4, 1 from the Soundbar (ARC)

I know the PS4 works well enough as a Blu-Ray player, however I really want to buy a Blu-Ray player (preferably Samsung, I was thinking on the BD-F7500). But I would also like to be able to have all sound coming out of the Soundbar. Is is possible to achieve this, and what Blu-Ray player would I need to buy to be able to do this?

I've searched a lot on the web to try and figure this out but haven't quite seen anything that exactly fits my problem. So any help would be appreciated. Any more info that I can provide about the devices just ask.

Thanks

OK, I guess I am a bit lost here... why is the soundbar connected to the HDMI input? I didnt even know that it could work that way. TVs generally have sound output ports, like RCA or optical and soundbars connected to those. Is your soundbar inputing something to the TV?

Cant you connect the soundbar via the optical or rca audio out? that would free up the hdmi port for the brd player.

*EDIT*
OK, just read about ARC, so the second para of my post above still stands, cant you connect it through the audio out port? Afterall soundbars are mono devices, stereo at the best, imho there is no real need for a 5.1 or 7.1 input

Hi, thanks for the reply firstmost

So, I can connect the soundbar to the TV through optical, sure.
But I still have one issue, I would like the PS4 to also reproduce through the soundbar. If I connect the Blu-Ray through HDMI to the soundbar I would still be leaving out the PS4. Or am I missing something, since the PS4 is connect to the TV can it then pass all audio through the optical to the soundbar? Hmm, that makes sense.

So getting the Blu-Ray player I mentioned I guess would be ok right?
On a side note, the Blu-Ray player I have in the office (this setup is for my living room) has 2 HDMI IN and 1 HDMI OUT. But I haven't seen anything like it for sale right now. And it would work nicely since I would be able to plug the PS4 and the TV to it and then output everything to the soundbar. (Swapping this unit to the living room is not an option though, since this is part of a HT kit, LG HT-906X. And the wife is making me keep the living room as clutter free as possible, so no big speakers lying around)

P.S. I connected the soundbar to the HDMI input because that's actually what Samsung suggests in the manual, so not being that knowledgeable I just went with their recommendation.

I don't keep up with the latest stuff much, but a Blu-Ray player with HMDI in is also new to me. But I believe it would be for pass through/switch, for the situations like yours. One catch might be to leave the Blu-Ray player running all the time for the pass through or switch to occur, which is, imo, no big deal. This might be the perfect solution for you.

But I would still weigh my option with optical audio out and using the 3 hdmi ins for PS4, BDP and set top box. I was doing some reading and it seems in some cases optical can even provide better sound quality compared to ARC. Just Google arc vs optical. Provided both your TV and soundbar has optical.

Yes, I believe that will be the solution I'll go for. Optical from TV -> Soundbar and everything else connected in the TV 3 HDMI INs.

Thanks so much for your help.
