Samsung HDD Reliable?

Samsung HDD is very cheap as compare to others. However, does Samsung HDD reliable? Do anyone of you every use it before? Please reply and share your experience on it.

I've been using Samsung HDDs since SATA was first introduced and they have always been reliable. Their reputation is for low noise, low power and low heat not for the highest performance.

Samsung is the only brand I've never had fail on me.

Current running 2x F1 1TB and 1x F3 1TB.

First Samsung drive I used was a 560MB IDE.

AFAIK they aren't any less reliable than any other brand.

I've used several Samsung HDD, and so far, none failed.

Well, in fact, I've had no HDD failed on me anyway. Even 60/75GXP, 7200.10~12, or Quantum Fireball have not failed on me after 3+ years of usage for each 😛 I must have a very good luck, lol.

Samsung are huge, a global player. A bit like Toyota.

Ok, maybe not the best comparison because I'm yet to have any of my Samsung HDDs recalled ;-)

Personally I've had a good experience with Samsung HDDs.

haha seriously, you could've just said honda. the point is that they're no-nonsense japanese electronics. DRAMs, mag/opto storage, LCDs, phones, microwaves, air conditioning and even HTIB systems i've used have been troopers.

anecdotal evidence is worthless. harddrives ARE unreliable, so everyones got their own batch of harddrives that died on them. its always different.
only thing you can know is not to trust any drive.

New to the Samsung HDD scene myself, but the Samsung drives I've had for the past couple of months have worked really well. So well that I went from having 1x500GB F3 drive for my OS to 2x1TB F3 drives and 2x1.5TB Story Stations (think the F2 eco drives are in these).

Like the poster above said, all mechanical drives die eventually. Keep your important stuff stored on something other than a HDD.

I have 2X1.5TB Raid 1
1TB for storage
And another 500GB for OS all gonig long and strong for along time. Reliability is about the same for all manufacterer's tho IMHO.

I agree with this. We have some that have been running in a production environment for 8 or so years 24/7 with no failures...

WD are OK but we have had about a 10% failure rate over the same period.

Seagate Older were fine, newer about 20% failure rate over the same period.
