Samsung Gear S2 watch esim do I need to pay extra

or does the esim link to my physical sim in my note 4. What other smart watches have this esim option. I'm currently using the original gear which I'd like to upgrade to the S2

It's a separate sim that requires it's own data plan IF you want to use it that way. There's nothing stopping you from just using it over bluetooth like your current watch though.

Ok thanks, I was hoping it'd be programmable and piggyback off my sim. No way I'm pay twice for a very small convenience of leaving my phone home on a bike ride so I can call through a watch.

It's not a full charge, like adding a second phone. My buddy has one and I think he had to add $5 a month to his plan and it shares his current data pool. Still, probably not worth it for many and I'm sure price varies with each provider.
