Samsung Galaxy Tab S2

Samsung has officially announced the Tab S2 8.0 and 9.7.

Both tablets will have 2048x1536 resolution SuperAMOLED displays that are a 4:3 aspect ratio.

The processor model isn't specified, but appears will be an Exynos 5433 with the much better Mali T760 GPU. Better GPU with almost 25% less pixels in the resolution should make the graphics performance significantly better. 3GB of RAM is on board also.

I really like the move to 4:3 over 16:10. However I'm still a little surprised more are not doing 3:2 like Microsoft did with the Surface 3 tablets. That's a great aspect ratio that provides enough width to be browser friendly in both orientations and still be wide enough in landscape for movies to look reasonable.

I'm kinda excited about these tablets. Been awhile since I've been excited about an Android tablet.

Meh, i'll stick with my Tab Pro 8.4 for at least another year. I see no reason to update. Nice specs tho.

Doesn't make sense at all at its current pricing. Apple does the iPad right by giving it generally better then current iPhone power. Combined with a great screen and finally going to 2GB memory, you get good longevity out of each model.

The Tab S2 surely has a great screen, but giving it a late 2014 SOC that isn't true 64-bit is a terrible idea if they want to compete against the iPad and make users comfortable that they'll be able to run the newest and greatest in 2 years.

The S2 with the Exynos 7420 would be legit.

Other sources I've read said it's getting the Exynos 7420. It wouldn't make sense not to.
I prefer the 16:9 ratio myself as I mostly watch movies with my Tab S 8.4.

tab S is more than good enough for me.
cant wait for it to drop in price when the s2 comes out.

Tab S is great in general, but there are still some annoying lags sometimes. Thankfully no lags while playing any video. Screen is amazing though so I've overlooked some of the flaws.

Hum. Wanted a Tab S with bigger battery and newer soc. S2 screws up the aspect ratio. Now what - buy a Tab S and wait for Tab S3 or just get a Tab S2 (curent tablet is tegra2 and in poor shape).

The hardware is 64-bit capable and similar to Exynos 7420 in a lot of ways, restricting it to 32-bit is Samsung's decision.
