I see they are in stores now.

They have specs listed as Quad Core 1.2 GHz and 1.5GB Ram, running 4.4.2. 1200x800 screen. Anyone know what CPU and GPU is in this? I was hoping for the same chipset as the Moto G.

Interested to see how it performs. Spec Wise its improved over the Tab 3. Not terrible for budget tablet.

Pisses me off when Samsung does this. CPU: 1.2Ghz Quad Core. Quad core what? What GPU? Leaving it off makes me suspect its actually a very weak, under powering, old SoC that they need to foist off on people who don't/won't research the product.

Also, even with those specs, one needs to point out the Nexus 7 2013 is only 20 dollars more and has a FHD screen with a high performance CPU under its hood. Unless you really need the IR blaster or SD slot in a 200 dollar sku, this doesn't seem a good buy.

Yes - I have a feeling this is a Mediatek CPU

Probably what's found in the 7/8 inch Asus Tablets.

Nexus 7 is better no doubt - but this is better for sure compared to previous Tab 7s.

The tab series other than the tab pro, has always been meh IMO and slow as hell.

Its been known for months that Intel lost the design win for the tab 4 series (the tab 3 10" had an intel dual core clovertrail cpu, the 7 and 8 inch were exynos dual cores). It was also known that Qualcomm would get a tab 4 design win.

Some (maybe all) the tabs 4 are using snapdragon 400 chip with quad core cortex a7 .

Only the Tab 3 8in had a dual core Exynos, the 4210, I think it was. The Tab 3 7in had a MediaTek chip.

I had to pick up a replacement mouse at BB today and they had the full range of Tab 4s out in the Samsung Experience Area, 7, 8 and 10. With only a few minutes on each, I can say they are definitely not powered by a performance oriented SoC. The 7in seemed to stutter quite a bit. The 8in was better, tho no where near as smooth at my Note 8 or GPad. The 10in felt fine. The screens on all 3 models were pretty gorgeous though, very bright, decent colors.
