Not bad at all...$50 off of Amazon and the Egg. I'm interested but I'm holding out to see how good the Galaxy SIII is (smaller screen obviously, but I need a new phone too and doubt I need both devices).

Yeah, I was looking at one of these to use as a second, smaller tablet (I already own an Iconia A500 10.1" tablet), but felt it was overpriced at $250. I decided to upgrade phones instead, and bought a Samsung Galaxy Nexus from the Google Play Store this past weekend. It should be delivered tomorrow.

The Refurb Acer Iconia A100 7" is excellent for $180 shipped. I have 2.

A100 8gb positives (vs Samsung)
*Cheaper via $20 dollars
*Don't have to be near a microcenter
*Acer has micro hdmi, Samsung requires a propietary adapter which costs about $30

Samsung positives compared to the A100 you linked
*Running ICS (Android 4) instead of Honeycomb (Android 3)
*1 GB of memory instead of 512mb (now the samsung has touchwiz which will use some of the extra memory.)
*While both tablets are dual cores A9s the Samsung has the faster gpu on the otherhand the Acer has tegra so some games are meant specifically for tegra
*Samsung has a screen with much better colors and much better viewing angles(Samsung has an IPS screen technically it is called PLS but that is a fancy samsung branded IPS vs the Acers TN).
*Samsung has better battery life, 4000mAh for Samsung vs 1530mAh for Acer. According to endgadget the Samsung gets 7h38m vs 4h54m
*IR blaster so it works as a remote control
*Not refurbished

I don't know which one has better internal speakers.

My post as for MrE as he had a Acer A500 10" tablet.

Sorry for the confusion.

It is $170 at buy.com now shipped free.

Has a great media player. Thats what I use it for in my car to stream MP3's via Bluetooth.

The Galaxy is a great Tab. It is about time Sammy dropped the price tho.

i just wanted to chime in and say that my 10" transformer is too big for what i want to use it for. if youre going to hold it in your hands most of the time while using it, get a 7". it makes a big difference. 10" is good if youre looking to use it for video a lot.. something you can have on your nightstand to watch netflix or whatever.

7" is a good size for an ebook reader and for games and music. It's a bit small for reading comics or manga, and also a little small for movies.

When is a deal NOT a deal?

If you see a great deal ... but you have to drive 500 miles to get it is it still a deal?

Microcenter only has 23 stores and most people have no access to them.

For most of us ... is this still a deal?

I might agree with your rant if "Microcenter B&M" wasn't right there in the thread title. Since it is, this is just thread crapping.

Greetings, Macgyversite! I really like my A500 and thought about buying a refurbished A100, but I was concerned that its battery runtime would be too short. I would spend the extra $20-30 and get the Galaxy Tab 2, instead. overall, it's a better tablet.

Never mind that, though, my Galaxy Nexus phone was delivered yesterday. It's a speedy little beast!

Next time, read the thread title properly.
You do know what "B&M" stands for right? If not, Google it.

Bought a 10" tablet last year and felt like I was a guinea pig for android tablets. I also wish I got the 7". Definitely more portable. With the thing right in your palms, you don't need a 10". I think I am going to wait until the new google/asus 7" tablet with tegra3 comes out. $200 is a good price on a current tablet though.
