Samsung Galaxy S3 "Gallery" app unusable after 4.3 update

I updated my Galaxy S3 to Android 4.3 hoping to see some performance improvements, and instead what I got was a Gallery app that is completely unusable. The interface becomes so unresponsive that I can't scroll through photos... it thinks I'm long pressing a photo to select it, then I have to hit the back button to get out of the select mode - which takes a good 10 seconds once I'm hit the back button. I spent about 15 minutes trying to scroll through photos and MAYBE saw three pages - a dozen photos at most out of a couple hundred before I gave up.

Anyone else run into this? I've seen posts about the Gallery app crashing when trying to share a photo, but I don't have that problem, it's just unusable due to what I can only describe as UI lag.

I had the same gallery issue. I think it boiled down to AllShareCast. I froze everything to do with allsharecast using titanium backup, & now it is back to normal

I tried killing AllShareCast and that didn't help. I turned of WiFi and then it magically started working properly. Went to work and tried it there with a WiFi connection and it worked properly. Now I'm home, on my home WiFi again and it's unusable again. Turned WiFi off and it's working properly. Turned WiFi back on without even exiting the app and it's unusable again. Obviously something is happening when the phone is connected to WiFi that doesn't happen when it's not... can't figure out what that is, though.

I'm afraid the best solution is probably a factory reset.

I'd like to avoid doing that as a shot in the dark. If I could pin the problem to something in particular, I'd be perfectly willing to do that. But so far, I don't really know what the root cause is.
