Looks decent but I've never owned a samsung phone that was worth a damn. How's their android support as far as updates go? Suppose that really doesn't matter if you intend to root your phone.

SuperAMOLED is supposed to consume ~30% more power compared to standard AMOLED. I hope it comes with a good battery!

Samsung phones = great hardware on paper, piss-poor quality, software and service.

Steer clear.

Does Samsung only make these Super AMOLED panels for their own phones or they sell them to other phone makers too?

AFAIK Samsung makes all the AMOLED screens in phones - so I'm sure they're get SuperAMOLED out to the other manufacturers too, eventually.

Well the advantage of this phone is that it has been out for a bit in other parts of the world. So far the reviews are fairly positive; biggest negative is no flash for the camera. Also it has been relatively inexpensive in europe. Anyways it is still an unknown which provider(s) in USA will pick it up. I heard a rumor it would be available by end of june. Hum. Either this iphone4 or droid x (formerly shadow). Gotta pick one and none are perfect.

Actually it looks like the Galaxy S and Galaxy S pro are two different phones; the pro model has a physical keyboard (ala Moto Driod). The Galaxy S is already available overseas and should be available in USA at the end of the month. The non-pro version is the one that interest me.

They do but give themselves priority. That combined with the yield troubles they have been having are leading to big shortages. Just ask all the Verizon folks trying to find an Incredible.

the pro version has the LED flash on it. this looks like a pretty decent phone so far, and ive had very good luck with my samsung phone so far. a couple of friends have other samsung feature phones and they like them as well, they seem to be decent phones.
