My Vibrant is still running nicely. Not happy with the battery life, but other than that I haven't had any problems.

What firmware are you on? 2.2 JK2 have excellent battery life and I heard JK6 is the same or better. Captivate and Vibrant owners with GPS problems should run the Samsung GPSRestore program from the market. It restores GPS settings to default. Lot of custom roms and gps "fixes" from XDA hurts your GPS performance.

Wife and I love our Vibrants. I love the fact that this phone is almost impossible to brick so I can flash stuff without worry. If problem develop I can always Odin.

2.1 OTA JI6. There is no official OTA 2.2 for the Vibrant.

I can't get through a whole day with arguably "light" use on my phone. If I forget to plug it in at night, it's dead in the morning.

JI6 is absolutely horrible for battery life. I was losing 3-4% battery life just on standby. I couldn't even last half a day when I used it. 2.2 is awesome for battery life. JK2 has been great. I just finished downloading JK6 so I'm flashing that tonight. You're missing out staying with OTA release.

JI6 has shitty battery life. You can flash the JI2 modem and it really helps.

JK6 battery life so far seems to be really good. With light usage (had 8-10 minutes over 3 phone calls, about 15 SMS sent/rcvd, ~30m of music playback and checking the screen every 30 minutes) I only lost 11% of the battery charge over about 7 hours.

After rooting and flashing syndicate rom on my epic I hit 14 hours on battery with 22% left. Moderate usage with tethering.

LOL... Yeah, I had five go bad.

Scouzer... What specifically happened to the first 3 phones? I'm very curious, as I'm about to pull the trigger on 4 Epics.

First one - Rooted and lag fixed. Died within a few days.
Second one - Rooted. Lasted a couple of weeks.
Third one - Nothing. Died in a few days.
Fourth one - Rooted + Flashed to Bell specific 2.2 from official app Samsung Kies.

The first through third the phone got all choppy and lagged out for a few minutes, so I rebooted and they would no longer boot.

The fourth one's screen started flashing and was unusable, rebooted, no more workie.

There's threads on XDA how this phone is just fucked. This is not user error. After my first phone I did not tinker and they still broke.

Must be specific to the Bell Vibrant then. Haven't heard any problems like this with any other NA Galaxy S varients, and my Tmo Vibrant has been solid as a rock.

I don't feel like dealing with ODIN at the moment, and I'm not very trusting of using someone else's prepackaged update.zip pulled off their phone. As little as I use my phone, a dead battery is a minor inconvenience to me.

You are aware that Galaxy S is a line of phones, not a specific model, right? I love my Mesmerize and it's a Galaxy S phone. The only thing I don't really like is how you have to swipe across pretty much the entire screen to unlock it.

I'm going to have to agree with this. I have 2 epics and love them. Especially since the RC DK28 froyo ROM just got leaked today and should hit OTA within the week.
