Samsung G4 stuck on updating.

hmm plugged in my SG4 into my computer to charge. the crappy Verizon software said the phone needs a update.

it downloads it (took damn long enough) then says it needs to be repaired. it gets to 83% and hangs.

anyone else having this. sigh been stuck like this for 3 hours

You are taking an OTA? I assume you aren't rooted or on a custom recovery?

Xda has a full Odin of MI1 posted. But... don't do it if you have or want root.

it's connected via cable using the shitty verizon software upgrade assistant shit.

Does Samsung have their own tool? Perhaps that works independently with the phone? I would see if it does the same thing unplugged, if possible. Would let you know if it's an internal thing with the phone or just some kind of issue relating to USB and/or PC drivers.

Samsung kies on the Samsung website.

I would rather use that than any Verizon software.

other more advanced options would be Odin.

DO NOT USE THE VERIZON SOFTWARE REPAIR PROGRAM!!!

It hung up my phone during the repair 5 times at 66%. Apparently I am not the only one who had this issue. My phone was so dead that it wouldn't turn on using the power and volume up buttons.

Then my stupid computer decided to restart itself so the Verizon program shut down. Apparently that tells the program to go ahead and DELETE all your backed up data!!! Why on earth something would just automatically DELETE everything without asking first is BEYOND me! It's nowhere to be found: not even in the recycle bin. Just GONE.

DO NOT USE THIS WORTHLESS program! It doesn't work and it gives you false hope that it's "backing up" your data. It doesn't.

I just want to warn everyone out there before it happens to someone else. Delete that program now.
