Nice.

Promo code works on multiple drives, unfortunately instant discount is only on one drive. So first drive is $70, second+ is $80.

I was able to get the 2 drives at $70 each by placing two separate orders.
Free shipping, so it doesn't matter that they will arrive in two separate boxes.

I ordered early in the morning, so not sure if something has changed.

Thanks, ordered 1 and another 1 tonight. Not bad for $69.99, no tax and free shipping.

Wow I've been looking to get this. Just yesterday I was thinking about ordering it and at $80 it was a good deal, but glad I didn't then!

I'm not a fan of the green drive but these days it's like the 7200rpm versions are "gamer/performance" and almost 2x the price. Plus from some benchmarks I've seen, this 5400rpm Samsung F4 is faster than my Samsung F1 500gb 7200rpm. So not a big performance boost but not a lost.

With the prices of the performance drives, I think I'll just get the 5400rpm, and later this year when I have the money, just buy a SSD for my OS drive.

These drives are dirt cheap, if only they would put more focus on the quality. Even $100 a pop is cheap, as long as they're reliable.

Just ordered one.

My Seagate 250gb started having issues a couple years ago. It would just disappear from the computer then show up after unplugging it and restarting. I ran all sorts of diagnostics and everyone came back "OK". With that out, my Samsung F1 500gb started to run low on space. Plus I hear a click when Crysis 2 levels load most of the time which is really weird and I don't hear it any other time (it may not even be from the hard drive).

Such a great deal at $70 with free shipping. It said estimated delivery time of only 1 day!

I didn't know that Seagate recently purchased Samsung's hard drive business. Seagate was the drive to goto 3-4 years ago but these days I don't hear much good. My drive is pretty much crap and my friend's drive died after a couple of years and the warranty was terrible.

As an FYI to anyone who ordered this, apparently the firmware that shipped with the HD may potentially lead to data loss.

You need to flash the firmware to a newer version.

Ripped from here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1597038

1. Download and unzip latest firmware from;

http://www.samsung.com/global/busine...bbs_msg_id=386

2. Make a bootable USB drive

http://www.forum.crucial.com/t5/Sol...table-USB-drive-for-firmware-updates/m-p/5985

Note: The last part where it says '...copy CTXXM.EXE firmware.....', ignore that. Instead copy the HD204UI.exe firmware you downloaded from Samsung to the same USB drive.

3. Shut down PC

4. Unplug all your hard drives except for the Samsung F4 HD204UI 2TB Hard disk.

5. Boot PC and go to your bios. Select IDE mode for your Hard Disk if you were on AHCI.

6. Select USB Drive as your first boot.

7. Save and reboot.

8. After DOS boots from the USB drive, type HD204UI

9. It will start to flash your hard disk with the new firmware. Wait until it says finished.

10. Shut down PC

11. Plug all your other hard drives back.

12. Change your bios settings back to what they were, eg. AHCI back on if it was on before, change first boot drive which was your OS drive.

Cheers.

Pretty disappointed with Samsung on this one...

And you'll be happy to know their RMA process couldn't be easier to understand. (RMA'ed HD103SJ for noise)

Hey big thanks for the heads up.
Rather than all that crap in the link all you have to do is format your USB FAT32 with the HP USB utility HPUSBF.exe and put win 98 startup files in a folder and point the utility to that folder. IO.sys CMD.com and MSDOS.sys are the only three sucked up. Then drop F4EG.exe on the stic

Set boot to USB, boot it and wait til "C" shows. Then type F4EG (enter) and WAIT a bit - do not touch anything after hitting enter until it says successful. Almost faked me out.

Note:
As a repay, just read coupla days ago that ALL WDC GREEN drives have a fatal flaw - fix coming supposedly
http://forums.ninjalane.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2680
Just passing along what I saw, dunno anything about validity.

I believe the update is only needed for drive made before this year. I got 2 a couple of months ago and it was made this year. (I read about it on the synology nas forums.)

I bought 4 of them when they were $59.95 at the egg
They are all dated 9 2010
Great drives actually

Edit:
I would think if the new firmware was alredy installed, the upgrade patch would just give a not needed notice, even if # was the same
