Samsung Evo 840 - Do i need 2.5" adapter to install?

You don't need, but I'm sure you'll want to secure it somehow. You can just use one screw on the side. I used to use picture mounting putty that was within reach, others have used duct tape.

If it's going in a 3.5" bay you'll need an adapter.
You can leave the SSD flop around in the case if you don't move it, kind of risky and not too professional. If you're able, you could make some kind of homemade bracket out of some thin sheet metal. Then there's always duct tape.
Can't afford $5 for a bracket?

Can afford $5 but really needed this done today lol

If you have a flat area where it can sit, poster tack or velcro works well. I've mounted several SSDs with velcro to the case top or bottom just to avoid using up a 3.5" HDD bay,

That's what I did for my HTPC... a 1"x1" square of Velcro secured the SSD to the bottom 5.25" tray.

OP, even double-sided tape (Scotch tape, etc...) will work fine, just don't put it near anything that will get very hot, the adhesive will deteriorate over time.

In my PC case there are literally dozens of areas where you can fit a SSD and I am sure it's the same with yours. Any empty cage or bay, or perhaps even on top of another HD or optical in an existing bay. (Maybe less than optimal in case an existing HD would get unreasonably hot but HDs rarely get really "hot" in a sense like a CPU or something) Aside from that you can put the SDD pretty much anywhere, even sticking on the floor of the case (with double tape) or with velcro...or go entirely ghetto and just have it dangle in the un-likelihood there is no space to place it. Some also stick it it at the back of their motherboards with velcro.

I have mine held on by a single screw, while the rest of it is resting on the 3.5 bay... I will use ductape to secure it in place though, after reading the suggestion here. The screw is tight, but ductape can't make things worse.

The only problem with ductape is that iy may bleed adhesive when heated. That is, unless you use the really shiny stuff used on furnace ducts. I prefer Velcro because it also cushions the SSD from vibration.
