Samsung DVD not working on Windows XP

I updated by PC from Windows ME to XP Pro and my Samsung DVD player quit working. After putting a disc into the drive and attempting to access the drive, Windows asks, "Please insert a disc into the drive." Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas on how to solve this problem?

We've physically removed the drive from the PC, started the PC, shutdown and reinstalled the drive. This worked immediately, but eventually the problem returned. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

hmmm, interesting. My dad's has a Samsung DVD on WinXP Pro but we don't have any problems with it...

maybe its a power supply problem? especially if you have a lot drives connnected to it.

Try it another PC and see if it still has a problem (pf course, one with XP)

Or, if its fairly new, take it back and try out a replacement
