a digital camera on a phone is nice for those "gotta have moments" with friends.. but that's about it... so a 5MP seems overboard I think. Am I trying to print big ol' posters w/ this? no. Work on better small optics w/ a 1-2MP camera, that I would really want.

wonder what the lense on that thing is like. Seems like 5mp is doesnt really mean anything if your lense sucks- and i'm not sure how good of optics you can fit in a tiny camera phone.

I rarely take any pictures with my Samsung camera phone because the pictures are always blurry washed out crap.
But I would definitely ditch my digital camera for this phone, or another one like it, if it took better pictures. Why not?

It's all marketing. People associate higher MP with better. I doubt the picture quality matches any regular 5MP camera, d-slr or point&shoot.

I just want a phone that works well and maybe has mp3 player. Forget the camera.

I think it's pretty cool, the phone seems ugly and i doubt i would use it - but i just got a camera phone (an LG vx6000) and i must admit, i am having a blast with it, if it was 5mp? man, i might actually be able to take some decent shots, not the same quality as a digital camera perhaps, but at least better than what i'm getting now.

but many people beleive their phone is a camera, every pic ive seen from camera phones is more or less crap

they shoudl work on makeing phones BETTER, better bat life, less dropped calls, better quality, before thet start adding useless features

Not everyone thinks it's useless, apparently. They seem to sell pretty well. While I doubt it would take the place of my Fuji, I'm also not going to carry my Fuji around on a daily basis. For me, the phone functionality is actually secondary on something like this, but does help justify buying one. A pocket-sized mp3 player with picture and video recording capabilities is useful to me, especially if the picture quality is at the least, decent.

cellphones are already pretty good in reception wise. the only crappy thing here in the states is the service... if u go to japan, or korea, or singapore, you will get full signal ANYWHERE. even underground

1 Depends on 2.
2 Is unknown, likely, but unknown. Could take great pics for all you know, is there ex. of the pics it can take? What are you basing your comparison, to older models? That's hardly fair, this is the first 5MP one. Granted this is a likely conclusion...
3. By moronicly expensive you mean it's not going to have good value. However, that depends on cost/quality, which, again, is unknown.
