Widgets just clutter a phone screen. Honestly I fully believe that they have no place on a phone. Tablet and PCs are where widgets excel. That's why I like android tablets but hate android phones. And why I love iPhones but hate the iPad. Drag and drop USB, similarly, has no place on the phone and only leads to, in my experience with customers, confusion as to where they need to put their music, if they can get viruses, if they can damage their phones and how to retrieve their pictures.

I don't see how. You can add a signature to all your posts via the user control panel. This one doesn't seem any different other than it just gets added when I'm on my iPhone. If a moderator thinks it's breaking the rules then I'll simply change it. But it's just like others who have their system specs and other things in their signatures. Though looking at it I guess it is promoting Tapatalk so I'll just remove that little bit so it says "Sent from my iPhone" just in case.

Sent from my iPhone

this is the thing that apple people tend to say is its like, well feature X isn't that great to me, and pointless so iOS is great for phones because that android feature sucks anyway.

the whole point of android is choice. don't like widgets? dont use them. if you are on iOS and want widgets well you are SOL.

i personally love widgets, i mean you get like 3-5 home screens, i am not going to fill that in with every single icon i have in my app drawer, so having a widget for say evernote or a clock seems ttotally worthwhile .

Having a single widget that can turn on/off gps, wifi, bluetooth from your home screen is priceless to me. Needing to dig through your settings is not fun everytime you need to turn those on.

Oh man. [I'm sorry I didn't have anything nice to say]

Trolling will not make you any friends among the members or the mods. Please behave.:)

No idea what you said but don't care. Was just being nice letting you know before a mod gave you a warning instead....but looks like you handled that part on your own huh.

You get more than one home screen.

On mine if I swipe left I get a screen with all my messages (email, gmail, sms, mms, missed calls, etc) in a scrollable list, if I swipe right I get a scrollable list of recent news headlines, if I stay on my primary home screen I have a bunch of folders set up with my most used apps, a widget that controls a bunch of setting (volume, vibrate, wireless, autorotate, etc) and the obligatory beautiful widgets weather clock.

Its a lot less cluttered than just a bunch of app links.

Seems fair to me. People who bought the Galaxy S bought it with Touchwiz, not ICS. Samsung can't disable that functionality that the phone shipped with to upgrade the underlying OS.

This is what I don't understand about people. They buy a phone today and bitch that they don't get a free OS upgrade a year from now. Hmm, how does that work in the desktop world? If I buy Windows 7 today, I should get a free upgrade to Windows 8 whenever it comes out right? Or I should get the next OS X upgrade for free to.

Why is it people think phone makers should support a phone 2 years after it came out?
If you want ICS on your Galaxy S root and put a ROM on it. I put it on my Vibrant. It's pretty slick and I'm waiting for a good version to put on my GS2.

Just a personal observation on Android vs iOS. We've gotten to the point where people say I'd take an Android phone over iPhone anyday. But mind you, there are some REALLLY crappy Android phones out there and so if you're saying you'd take even THOSE over a 3GS with iOS5, then .... I disagree. :)

No doubt, there are some horrible android phones out there, but the Flagship phones make up for it. :)

So what you are saying is it's easier to press the button to wake up your phone, open Siri, say, "What's the weather like?". Wait for a response? Or wake phone up look at your home screen and go Ahh, it's 72 degrees with a chance of rain. Or have the latest score to whatever sports game you follow right there waiting?
So by saying your experience with customers, I take it you work in retail. I'm sorry. I did that too when I was young and it sucks. But USB drag and drop friggen rules. Your phone is your thumb drive as long as you have a standard micro usb cable. You can copy files, charge whatever.
With the iDevice you have to fire up iTunes and have a Apple specific cable. At least they work on all iDevices.
I do much prefer the iOS web browser and keyboard over the android versions, which is why I rock the iPad at home for browsing.

With modern devices you there's not even confusion about where to put your music. No matter where you put your music, it'll be unified into a single list in your music app anyway.

Yeah and that's the problem! You start getting "sheep" on both sides because they start to think "if it's Android it's clearly better". So you end up with people on both sides buying based on a label and not so much a device.

/conspiracy theory hat on

I kind of wonder if this is the goal of android marketing. As long as they can continue pitting Android vs iOS they can get away with selling some REALLY crappy phones because people are convinced that just because it has Android that it's better.
