FWIW this thing struck me as a piece of crap, just based on seeing one on display. The tray didn't fit right - cheap piece of plastic - and there was colored toner dust all over the place. Doesn't say a lot about long-term quality of the unit.

On the plus side, the cartridges are ridiculously easy to load. It's torpedo-style, they have tubes that you shove the cartridges into. Real easy! :D I also haven't seen any printer output, so I can't comment on the actual print quality.

I have worked with many color LJ's and I don't know why but they all have chocked filters and fans with color dust in them.... Of course they are used a lot but....... I hardly ever see it with just black and white printers.

I think the rotation of the color carts/drums has something to do with it...

For anyone who has access to Sunday's Staples newspaper circular, mine (Tallahassee) had a $30 off $150 coupon on the back good for in-store purchases. Dunno if this the same everywhere. Would make this a $69.99 deal!

Damn I'm near Tallahassee and we usually get the circulars but I don't remember seeing this :(

I have this printer. It's fine for home use. It's quiet, a bit slow, but graphics quality (not photo) is fine. Web pages, Excel charts, Powerpoint presentations, etc. come out quite well. I haven't yet had to replace toner, but there are cheap refills all over the net. I have only printed to standard cheapo copy paper, so I can't comment on cardstock, transparencies, etc.

I share it from an XP machine on my home network, and have printed to it from my Vista machine.

I got it for $100 the last Black Friday sale, and have overall been pleased with it's performance. It doesn't get a whole lot of use, so I may not be stressing it to the point of failure. It would probably NOT be a good choice for a business user.

laser toner is a known carcinogen. I use a laser printer, but keep an eye out for any toner dispersion.

no way I would use one with visible toner deposits / a reputation for dumping toner everywhere.

I'm pretty sure all laser printers do this. I'm also sure that for the average home user, this is a non-issue compared with all the other known carcinogens you're exposed to everyday (just think about automobile and truck exhausts).

But it is something to keep in mind when considering where to place it and how often to vacuum the dust up with your HEPA filtered vac.

I just recieved this printer from this deal and it seems like a great little printer. The text and graphics are very crisp and clean for such a cheap printer. It does stink up my home office every time I print, but I'm hoping that this is partially because it is new.

I use multiple $1,300+ color laser printers at my office, and they always have colored toner scattered around inside. I don't see this as a fault of this little cheap printer when much more expensive models do exactly the same thing.

We used to own the Xerox equivalent of this printer-the Phaser 6110...got it when Staples was offering $150 off on it, making it $149.99 shipped. It is the same as this Samsung save for the different badging. After about a year, the printer started acting up and we RMA'd it to Xerox. Then the deal got a LOT hotter because they ran out of Phaser 6110s and instead shipped us a brand new Phaser 6130/N worth $400-450.

I bought one of these a while back when Staples had them for $50. We don't do much color printing but it was definitely worth the $. I printed a few photos and while I wouldn't frame them they work great for hanging in the office.
