No LOL would be these people who are saying "I'll never buy a 5" phone that isn't 1080p!"

I can't wait until down the road when the next generation are saying "I'll never buy a 5" phone that does't have a 4k screen!"

No. LOL @ thinking that 1024x600 is an acceptable resolution in this day and age for mobile devices. I wouldn't even consider a phone with that resolution, let alone a larger tablet.

Most laptops are barely pushing 720p while being 2-3x bigger than a phone, yet people are happy with laptops.

Yeah, I don't get this 1080p in my pocket shit *shrug*

And we've been bashing laptop makers for years and years about it.

That's fine if you don't get it, but the noticeable differences are there, and they are appreciated.

We've being people on ATOT? My neighbor loves his new HP Envy laptop which has a 13" 720p screen. I never see anyone outside of nerds on tech forms complain about resolution on laptops, or even smartphones for that matter. Yeah, I don't get it, but I don't get the push for a 6" phone either *shrug*

We being me, various people on this forum, and tech reviewers around the world. Anand himself has made remarks about the poor job laptop makers have done in getting higher res screens out to the masses. I share Anand's opinion.

Android manufactures have tossed in the towel in the tablet market. They are waving the white flag.

They are just going to yield the $500+ market to the iPad, the $330 area to the iPad mini, and even the $200-250 are to the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD.

ASUS, Samsung, and the rest have tucked tail between the legs and are going to literally drown us in POS sub $200 tablets.

And I'm so ****ing disappointed, tears are dripping on my iPad 4 now. I so want a really great 7 or 10 inch Android tablet and it just is not happening.

Oh jeez. You do know Android tablets have a 50% market share, and growing, right? Samsung's Note line is the premium tablet line, and the Note 8 and 10.1 are their flagship products. The Tab line is their budget line, still disappointing on the Tab 3 specs though. Asus makes the Nexus 7, and could very well be making the Nexus 7 2013 model as well, so their parts are definitely selling. Their Transformer line is their flagship line, and the TF300 and TF700 are both great tablets, though long in the tooth, they're still the only non-Nexus tablets running 4.2.x. They are in need a refresh though, Asus is oddly quiet. Or maybe they've just learned not to announce products 12 months in advance. :p

Microsoft has called out manufacturers on this too. Its pathetic that there's only a handful of ultrabooks with 1080p displays, which are expensive. And sadly usually paired with Intel's underpowered HD4000 GPUs. :/ See what lands with Haswell parts arrive . . . I need to get my 2011 Macbook Air soon. Never use it anyway.

This is a bit of apples and oranges here. Since laptops and tablets are viewed differently.

1366x768 is getting pretty pathetic on laptops. But at least is has 1366 pixels by 768 pixels. Since a laptop screen is viewed from a further distance on a larger, this poor PPI can be excused.

1024x600 on a 7 inch screen being viewed about 12 to 18 inches from your face, this PPI is pretty bad.

Android is going to be king of the budget crap tablets. Well I guess if the manufactures are making money, good for then. But this sucks ass for consumers that want a quality Android tablet.

ASUS has a some nice tablets from last year (wish they didn't use such poor performing flash). But ASUS has not released a quality 7 inch tablet (other than the Nexus 7 with Google). They are pushing out a $150 crap tablet. So they seem to be heading in the direction of Samsung, Lenovo, and others.

The only thing Android fans really have going is the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. And they are good tablets, but not great tablets. The displays are kinda meh (despite the stellar resolution on the Nexus 10) and no micro SD. I'd like to see more good quality choices, not just Nexus tablets and then a bunch of $200 garbage under it.

Imho for 7" that's good, you don't need 1080p on a screen of that size. 720p on a 13" laptop's great.

I scratch my head at people who need a pocket-able or close to it device that has the same resolution as their 52" TV. I'll take a good quality 1024x600 SLCD screen over a 1080p AMOLED.

Yea that OLED tech is really outdated shit. Those terrible viewing angles and contrast ratio. I can't wait till LCD goes down in price.
