Yes, it's one of those. And yes, I confirmed - without it, both the face ID and the fingerprint sensor work every time. Dang it... I wonder if the new case I ordered will work ok. I got a separate screen protector/cover this time. hopefully that will make a difference.
The Note 10 come with a screen protector on it already so unless you removed it having 2 protectors with screw things up

Nope, I did remove it. I guess the case simply sucks.

I ran some Geekbench tests just for fun. The scores are just hurtful.

4235 single/ 10487 multi for iPhone X, and 3465 single/10773 multi for the Note 10+ (At least the Note beats it for multi, but that's the original X. Not the XS or the iPhone 11)

That's at least tolerable scores... but:

In GPU Compute,

15356 on iPhone X (Metal) vs 7724 RenderScript on Note 10+. Talk about an absolute SLAUGHTER! That just hurts. :(

Hopefully, none of this matters much when playing on Android.

Cmon. Benches mean nothing at all for at least 3 to 4 years.

Admittedly, I don't know how these benchmarks compare to real world performance. All my gaming and apps on the Note 10+ are butter smooth.

I'm so tempted to get a Note10+ but it looks like the $600 trade-in deal ended this weekend :(

The wife and I both got note 10+ 5Gs two weeks ago.

I'm very impressed with them.

Ohh, do tell! What sort of speeds are you seeing with 5G?

LOL, no 5G in my area yet (Beach cities in Los Angeles). I got the 5G models because they were nearly 500 off with my vet discount and I figured why not future proof since our last phones lasted 4/5 years? (Note 4 and V20).

LA is pretty big, so I’m sure you will get 5G sooner than later. I passed on the 5G note, because where I’m moving took years to get 4G after I had it here. I don’t see 5G being any different.

I'm hoping so. We'll see. The only downside is the suburban LA beach cities have a lot of misinformed Karens who are scared 5G will hurt them.

Well, Microsoft had the 256GB Note10+ on Ebay for $700 yesterday, so I caved.

Any recommendations for accessories, like a case?

I really like the official Samsung leather case for my Note 10+. It's pricey for a case, but fits so well and I like the feel of leather cases. I also buy a Spigen Liquid Air case for pretty much any phone I buy. Cheap, fits great and feels nice.

And I really like the Galaxy Buds. I HATED these things so much when they first came out. They'd cut out so much. But after a bunch of updates these things are pretty nice now.

Had my Note10+ about 24 hours, and very disappointed. Obviously the specs are good but the UI is just so bad (Would any Android user object to Google requiring all manufactures to provide at least the option to switch to the vanilla UI and stock apps?) S Pen seems nice except for terrible ergonomics.

My last 2 phones have been Pixel's for this very reason (currently on the 3). It just works and the camera is fantastic. Battery lasts all day-ish. On the flip side, I'm on my second Samsung tablet (latest) and the experience of using it is pretty much the same as the Ipad (wife has latest).

Arguing about high end phones is like arguing about MJ vs Lebron :)

They are all pretty fantastic. You do need to pick your walled garden, and Apple's walls are way higher than Android's hedgerows.
