Galaxy S III Mini?

http://www.unwiredview.com/2012/10/02/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-mini-could-be-introduced-on-october-11/

That would be a step in the right direction, although I'd much prefer if it was not one with the Samsung bloatware. A decent screen resolution would be desirable too.

personally, i hate all these giant phones. i really liked the Nexus S (4" 800x480). i even really like my LG Marquee! (Optimus Black, 4" 800x480). i hope if the S3 mini is true, that it's still decently fast. too bad it's not rumored to have 960x540...

I think this could be decent. After having my Galaxy S2 for a while, then playing with an S3 AND with a new iphone, I think the screen size sweet spot for me is 4-4.3". It's just easier to use with my hand size and is big enough to be easy to read.

That said it has to be a decent quality screen too.

If there's a Galaxy Mini, I'm 99% sure it won't be coming to the states. I remember a smaller model in London which I believe was the Galaxy Ace.

S3 mini my bum. That thing is pretty much the Galaxy S Blaze from Tmobile which is already out. I guess if you need Touch Wiz 4.1.

The problem is how much smaller than 4.8" are you going to go? 4.3" is my max and I LIKE that size. But 4.3" is still considered big for many.

I see Samsung going 4" in which case I have to pick between small or too big. In that case I'd get 4.8"

If they had sized their GS3 at 4.5 or 4.6", then the gap between that and 4" wouldn't be as bad.

Meh.

Meh.

I always want more screen. 4.8" isn't bad at all to me.

Sounds like you will need the upcoming note 2 then. I'd get the n2 but that may be too big.

I'm coming from an iPhone 4 and going android this time without contract. So I have no idea what I want. I'm thinking 4.5-4.8 is about right. My current interests are sg3, razr hd maxx, note 2 and nexus depending on release.

The Note 2 could be just right depending on the final specs, resolution, and type of screen. The one thing about the GS3 that kills me is the screen. It just isn't as nice as my old Nexus. I generally keep my phone in my pocket and never wear skinny jeans (I always have large enough pockets) so a 5.5" device might not be terrible at all. It'll all come down to final release specs for my carrier (Verizon) to determine whether or not I will use my 2nd line upgrade or wait it out for the next big thing next spring.

I realize that it may be fine for some people, but I can guarantee you there's a huge market south of 4.8" screen size. And that's not just a market of crap spec phones.

Samsung would be wise to address the smaller screen sizes. I'd like them to do something like 4.8", 4.3", and 3.8". I think that'd satisfy a good crowd. Unfortunately I don't see them doing 2 more models, so if it's just 1 more, it's probably 4".

Sounds good... the screen on the Galaxy S3 seems a bit too big to me. A 4.3" screen seems a bit more practical.

Yup. My colleague has the S3, and a case for it. It's just ginormous. Very, very awkward in the hands.

I dunno. My brother-in-law just got one and put an extended battery and new back on it, and it felt fine in my hand. I was most impressed.

That's because 99.99% of companies don't know how to make a good case.
His case is too big, but I think the phone is too big too. Add them together though and it's almost like we're back to the brick phone days. ;)

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini Leaked On Samsung Mobile's WAP site

Samsung recently sent out a press invite for an October 11 event that has everyone believing that the South Korean-based electronics manufacturer will be unveiling a miniature version of their flagship Galaxy S3 smartphone. These speculations might have been confirmed by a User Agent Profile (UAP) listing on Samsung Mobile's WAP site.

The listing for a device dubbed GT-I8190 has been published with specs that look like a smaller Galaxy S3. The XML code reveals a few details, but not much. The GT-I8190 handset will be running an unspecified version of Android (let's hope it's Jelly Bean), be powered by an ARM11 processor, and have a resolution of 480X800 pixels. It also sports a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and be available in Ceramic White and Marble Blue.

I'm not sure why manufacturers think people either want it all or pretty much not at all. Where's the 4.3-4.6" beast phone that's widely available like the GS3?
