Samsung 997DF 19" Monitor Good?

@ BB for $200, and I sort of need a new one since mine kills my eyes from blurryness. Is this a good lasting monitor? It has a nice dp and resolution. Anyone know what the max resolution it can do with 85Hz refresh rate? My Bro has one and he likes it, but he hasn't had it long enough to know if it'll last. I've had my current monitor for about 2 yrs and it's been giving me blurry problems. Thanks

Seems like a great monitor. I checked a few different sites and no bad reviews for this model. Only other information I can see about refresh rate is that it will do 1600x1200 @ 76 Hz which is the recommened refresh rate / resolution. Samsung monitors tend to last very well, besides Samsung's have 3 year warrenties.

I think you mean NEC/ MITSUBISHI. Nec does not have any production agreements with Samsung.

I had the 17inch version of this Samsung, forgot the model number. Pretty good monitor, nice vivid colors but still not as good as NEC's or Sony Trinitron imo.

The Samsung 997DF are very nice, I had a hard time deciding between that and the Viewsonic A91f+

DONT DO IT. Please go with the a91f+. If you're someone who nitpicks like hell like i do then you're gonna hate the 997df so much (it's what i have regretfully). Of the many problems that have been consistent throughout FOUR rma's i have the following:

- vertical lines running down the left and right of the screen
- streaking that makes darker image streak all the way to the right on light backgrounds
- buzzing on high contrast black and white images or basically viewing text files

If those seem trivial to you then go for it. But if you're like me, then you'd be through with samsung crt monitors.

the 997 has the best colors of any monitor i've ever seen and yet overall it's the worst monitor I've ever used.

Tempting I'm debating whether to get one of these now Refresh rates on that NEC are kick ass!

I have a 997DF and I like it alot. Plenty of geometry controls if you need it, crisp picture, and it's aesthetically pleasing to look at (important to spouse). I'd recommend it especially at that price. I got mine for that 6 months ago and I'm not sorry.
