Hello people,

I have 2 perfect vivid and sharp 19" CRT both of them are Samtron 98PDF Flat CRT's and both of them have fine scratches that I need to remove. Is there a way to restore their perfect picture even if I have to get rid of the anti-glare coating?
What can I do?
Thank you in advance for your kindness and support.

With the best regards,

Thank you for your kind reply.
In one of them the scratches are very light so I think it's only in the coating, in the other I think they are a bit deeper :) I use these CRTs indoores where I don't get much sunlight so as long as I see sharp I don't need the anti-glare coating. What can I do to rescue these 2 CRTs they are perfect :(

With the best regards,

What you can try for a few dollars: Does a mobile phone screen protector make these scratches disappear?

After testing, you can remove these without doing further damage.
Because otherwise, deep scratches will need transparent epoxy (that type of stuff they use on car windows) and the right tools to polish them.
You need to evaluate whether you can still use them or if it is worth a try.

I tried that with a laptop screen once and failed.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. :)
The scratch is very light so I don't even feel with my nail but it doesn't disappear with screen protector. Also I was able to remove the antiglare coating in one of the CRT making all scratches going away except this one I'm talking about. I took of the coat with metal cleaning polishing Duraglit.
What can I do?

How to get that scratch out of the glass? An optician should know that.

There has to be some kind of polish to do that. Your standard polish won't work here as glass is extremely hard stuff.
