Discussion Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB VS WD SN750 Black 1TB

Assuming both are within $10 of each other, which would you choose and why?

I think the Samsung edges the WD drive out in terms of overall performance.

I chose the WD over the Samsung (and others...) I've had a Sammy fail on me, and I (thought I) was having problems with my Crucials (although it turned out I wasn't.) That left the WD.

You said 'real world.' In reality, outside of benchmarks, there is probably very real difference in general computing; for that matter, there is probably little difference between SATA SSD's and NVMe... except in very heavy I/O loads.

I was moving some big (100+GB) photo files around yesterday... the NVMe speed was very nice! ...but that was an isolated example.

lulz another thread on nvme drives vs his toshiba xg4! who woulda thought.. just get a HP 2tb ex950 for 250 and call it a day. 1tb 970 evo plus is prob very close to the same price. i think i saw 1tb sn750 for 134$ tho (hot price when i saw it in hot deals )

seriously still on one about the xg4 of course EVEYRTHING is better then it, the ex950 is a FAST drive and 250 for 2tb is a great deal, not sure if you can find a 2tb sn750 if you can i imagine its close to the same price of 250 and get that one instead.

yea i'm still thinking about it, not sure if its better than my toshiba xg4. do you think the WD Black SN750 1tb is better than the XG4?

in all seriousness, Just jumped on the WD SN750 1TB deal from tigerdirect. Should be receiving it on on 3/10. Will try again to use macrium reflect to image my windows 10 over
