Im building a new computer, 2700+, 9700 np, 2x 512mb pc 2700, a7n8x.

With that im hoping to run at 1600x1200 most of the time.
Which monitor is better? I see a lot of people think the 955df is great for the price range. And i don't hear so much about the e90f.
I know the E series of the viewsonic is their lowest series, but i'm looking to spend $250 max i think. i dunno, convince me i should spend more.

the e90f is slightly more than the 955df at www.newegg.com
e90f $215 ship $25.
955df $210 ship $6.

so, which monitor is better do you guys think?

EDIT:
AHA! newegg has the g90f for $240 shipped!
gotta remember to factor in the shipping.

Don't pay $250 and exepect to get a great picture in 1600*1200. I'd recommend you to go and have a look for yourself at a local computer store.

I'd pay a little more and buy for example a Samsung 959NF.

Hmm.. I guess 959NF is the european name :/

Edit: I can't find a matching US-Samsung-monitor, I'm sorry, guess it's a european model.

The North American equivalent to the 959NF is the 900NF. Unfortunately, it seems the 900NF is being discontinued, but you can still find in a few places if you look around. I got mine from NCIX's Canadian outlet, and it seems they still have it in stock.

I have a viewsonic now and it is just ok. I think if I had a choice when I swapped my old one out (w/ a service plan @ BB...yes I know service plans suck but it was $10 cuz i got it when I still worked there) I would have gotten a samsung. We had one a year or so back that was flat and had BNC connectors. That was a nice one. So samsung is my opinion.

The 955DF is a great monitor, but I wouldn't recommend it for 1600x1200.. I run mine at 1280x1024 @ 75hz, the refresh is too low at any higher of a resolution. If you are really set on running at 1600x1200 then I would spend the extra money to get the NF. Trust me though, you will definately straining your eyes running 1600x1200 on the DF

jfall's right.... It's a great monitor but not at the res your seeking... Hope you got a 'fat wallet', your going to need it 😉

I have the 955df.......... I'm pretty happy with it but I don't play games so I could not tell you how good it is for gaming.

Cheers,

i have the 955df and its excellent

1600x1200 @ 60hz strains the eye a lil, but i used powerstrip to o/c it to 65hz

what part of California are you from? i was contemplating on selling my 955df for a while 😉

have you consider nec/mitsubishi model?
i don't know which one but i read old threat that talk about 19"monitor and some of them love it. 😉

just MHO.

i have a 955df and the geometry on it is a little messed up. i saw someone else post something about having the same problem with the monitor as well so beware of that.
