Greetings all!

I'm in the market for a relatively budget priced 19" monitor that won't make me buy glasses in a month. One stipulation..I don't want it mailorder....I prefer to go pick it up in a store (i.e. BestBuy, CircuitCity)

As indicated in the title, I"m looking at:

Samsung 955DF
Viewsonic A90
MagView VM900E
(straight from BestBuy.com)

They are all near to my price range (especially as the Samsung and the Viewsonic have rebates)

From y'all? OPINIONS! and RATINGS in a 1=best, 3=worst 8-P

BTW, would I notice that much difference between a flat screen (i.e. 955DF) and a normal screen (i.e. A90)? Not sure if the flatscreen is that much better.....

Thanks!!!!!

Randy

P.S. Is the KDS AV-195TF $370 - $70 rebate that much better that it would blow these monitors away and be worth the bit-o-extra money?

Best Buy doesn't really have the best prices on monitors, for that, I'd seriously consider buying online.
TechOnWeb has some great prices, fair price on shipping and a great selection of monitors.

But...if you really want to buy a monitor at Best Buy, I'd be more than happy to help you out.

Samsung 955df = 1 Great monitor for the price, however a lot of people complain about theirs having washed out colors
Viewsonic A90 = 2 The A series in Viewsonic monitors are of very poor quality. They're made for the retail market (cheaply made, cheaply sold to stores like Best Buy and sold to you for a huge profit by stores like Best Buy). How do I know this? I used to work for Best Buy and the markup is incredible using my employee discount.
MagViewVM900E = 3 Of the 3 we had on display at one time or another, 2 of them went bad. 1 just burned out, and the other omitted a constant clicking noise. I've also had customers complain about inconsistant picture quality. The only thing going for it is it's price. Oh, and Magview claims .25 dot pitch, that's false it's .25 HORIZONTAL, .28 diagonal.

I really cannot se why you would put money into a shadowmask monitor like the 955DF for a 19 incher. Go with trinitron. The extras that you pay in it is worth it. I've gone from a 955Df to a Compaq P900(Trinitron). I did not regret a single bit. :)

If you wanna raet it, I would put the 955DF in 3=worst. :)

If I had to buy a monitor I would go to the Hot Deals forum and check out monitors there. You can get them for incredibly cheap. But I think you should go with the Samsung if you want to buy one in store and those choices are the only ones you have.
