I'm getting these strange ripple-effect interference across my monitor.
This has never happened before and I just noticed it today.
I run my monitor at 1280X960 @76hz.

And on my desktop it seems that my icons and taskbar are reflecting off itself and making a faint mirror image behind it...its kinda "glowing".

I checked to see if there were any electronic devices that could be interfering, but there's nothing else in my room.

I tried degaussing but that doesnt do anything.

whats goin on?

Sounds like some monitor adjustment is in order. Use some Moire tweaks to get rid of that ripple effect. As for ghosting, see if you have some sort of convergence adjustment or you might have manually set your color temp too high. See if there is a default 9700 degrees in there somewhere.

Also see if you can get yourself to a resolution that allows you to run @ 85 hz. Whatever resolution this happens to be is the "sweet spot" the monitor was designed for. Typically 1280x1024 on a 19" Monitor.

Also, make sure there are no fans sitting next to your monitor.
Electric motors use magnetic fields to generate rpms and cause a shimmering in tune with the motors rotation if the fan is too near the screen.
Might not be in your case, but you never know.)

I see the moire tweak for my monitor but I'm not exactly sure how it works...

and there aren't any fans anywhere near the monitor...=/

i still have the problem with the weird "ghost" effect.
