The Samsung 955DF has been reccomended to me to replace my dead 17" monitor. Is this a realiable model? My last one died after 4 years, so I want something that will last a little longer. Most importantly, goes it have great image quality? Thanks for the help.

I bought a 955DF last month and am very pleased with it. I have been using a Sony 17" for about 6 years and never even considered a Samsung. The image quality on the 955DF is superb.

The only "negative" so far is it's size. It is HUGE!

Also, they describe the 955DF as a .20mm pitch monitor. It is not .20 in BOTH horizontal and vertical. I think it's .20mm horizonal and .25mm vertical (or maybe the other way around). Anyway think of it as a .25mm monitor.

As far as Bang-For-The-Bucks, you can't go wrong with this monitor.

Manufacturers sometimes give the horizontal dot pitch, .20mm in this case, to make it look like it has a really low dot pitch. Diagonal dot pitch is what matters, and the 955DF is either .23mm or .24mm, which still is low.

if the size is a concern, I own a 955SL (short length) and love it to pieces. it's not flat, like the DynaFlat DF model, but I love it because it's so small. It's as small as my dad's old 17" MAG monitor and my roomie's Sony 17 trinitron. It's even a little cheaper than the DF, too... I got mine for $280
