Samsung 955 DF - Is it OK?

Need a new monitor to go with the new 1.6a rig. I use a VisionTek G3-ti200 vid card. My trusty old MAG XJ-810 is going to the kids with the old PIII.

BB has the 955 DF for 249.99 after a $50 rebate. I need to get it at BB to use up a couple of mouldy gift certificates.

I usually use 1024x768 res. Would anyone reccommend this CRT ? More imporntantly though, would you tell me if it is crap?

They have an NEC 19" monitor for a lot more money and it only comes in funky colors. I don't want that. I mostly play FPS, that would be the main use for the monitor.

It is a good monitor, nothing special, but want let you down either. I have heard of people getting them a lot cheaper, but if you have the gift certs to spend go for it. It is a good mid range monitor.

I got one from Dell a couple of months ago. I'm using it with a new visiontek GF3 ti200 and I love the picture. I think its a pretty good flat screen, especially if you mainly a game player and not a graphic designer or publisher type. But I'm not the most critical person either, so YMMV. SS:SE and MoH are both great with this combo. It was a big improvement going from my optiquest Q95 19'. You could order it from Gateway (using the $50 coupon that expires today) for around $199 shipped, no rebate. But if you have to use those gc, it's still a decent deal.

The refresh rates aren't that great, but then again if you're only gonna run it at 1024x768 it's probably ok.
