heres what you do

Call up staples, PM with EMSComputing.com which has it for around 234 shipped. Use the $40 off $200 cupon code that expires 1-15-02. Your total will come to $206.

Nice deal, just ordered one. :)

I also bought htis monitor a while back for $206 shipped. Folks, this is the best monitor for the money hands down. Makes me wonder why I bought a G400 when i could have this for so much less.

We hope to see you again soon!

That price of $234 Shipped form EMS, was that with overnight shipping? isn't that what Staples charges on PM's?

By far the best monitor I've ever owned. For the price you can't beat it. Consistently gets PCWorld's best 19" monitor award.

I had this monitor for about a week before it broke, and I must say it was VERY nice.... And when the guy came to replace it he brought a 955SL instead so I got to keep that, double bonus!

Samsung 950P is considered an old model and it is not a flat screen monitor. I'd rather recommand Samsung SyncMaster 955DF. DF means Samsung's technology called Dyna Flat. You can easily find it on the web for around $270. And there is a $40 MIR by Samsung expired 09/30/01.

This Samsung monitor has been a Best Buy at PC World for a number of years now... I have almost bought it numerous times... (back with the Dell Home Office deal) Maybe I should finally lay down the cash... maybe :D

What does this have to do with anything?

I bought this monitor a while back from Mercata I believe. I think back then I got it for about $250. I didnt' really like it. I did a dual setup with my Matrox G400, and my Viewsonic PS790 made the 950P look like crap. It takes up quite a bit of space too. Since then, I got in on a Staples deal for a Viewsonic PF790 for about ~$270. Now that is a GREAT monitor. They are quite expensive if you're paying retail for it though. I guess at this price, you don't really have much room to complain. I didn't like the 950P much though. Just my $.02.

it's age doesn't change the fact that it is a quality monitor. >>

Well, maybe you are right. I just recommand another model with a new technology. My opinion is when you have the same budget, why not getting the one with newer technology? The reviews of 955DF is also good too.

For the same cost, will you get a 36" Magnavox instead of Sony Wega if both TVs have good reviews?

newer doesn't mean better, it sometimes mean worse. companies use this fallacy a lot of times to trick consumers...

I own this monitor and personally though I'm not too happy with it. Whenever i'm in lower resolutions in dos and windows the entire monitor is very wavy even after degauss. The monitor will just flicker off for a split second the image is completely gone and then it comes back, it happens very quickly and it doesn't happen too often but it's pretty bad. I suspected that it was a power issue but with my old KDS 19" I never once had the screen flicker like that unless the power went completely out

I'm not sure how you get that problem with this monitor. I've built two different computers with this monitor and would not hesitate to order one again!

Can anyone give me the Staples item # for this, and it shouldn't have an IM in the first two digits, I'm trying to getthe PM but they said they won't do it with anything with IM in the first 2 digits because they buy it directly from some other store, Thanks,

I asked the Staples CSR rep if the samsung 950p was in stock- I didn't have an SKU

BTW- your analogy about maganavox/sony doesn't make sense.

A better example would be a 1999 sony compred to a 2000 sony- we are talking about the same brand here.

Keyzer, no wonder the PS790 makes the 950p look like crap, it's a friggin' $500 monitor. I just ordered the 950p from staples. Guess I'll be losing $40 cause I missed the Dell deal, but oh well. I need a new monitor.
