Samsung 930b+Bad framerates??????????????

Just bought a 8ms 930b. Have a 6600Gt. Formated. Framerates are pitiful. Running at 75hz. I spent alot of time researching LCDs before I bought one and waited for this model because it is fast enough to prevent ghosting but no where did I ever read that my framerates in general would tank. I have it connected DVI not the analog cable that it came with. What am I missing or did I waste 400$.
Thanx

If you're getting poor framerates, that means your graphics card cant run well at the lcd's native resolution. This has nothing to do with the lcd itself.

Ya a 6600gt cant really keep up at resolutions 1280x1024 and above due to its 128bit memory interface, and I believe the native resolution of that lcd is 1280x1024.

66ooGT has only DVI connections. Running Wow, GW, Doom3 1024x768 with CRT before no problems. Any higher resolution and I drop to 60hz. Would running games @60hz increase framerate with this monitor? Vsync is disables on all games.

Starting to wonder if this is a serious post, but anyways...

Disregard the hz thing.

You bought a 19 inch lcd with a native resolution of 1280x1024. To put it simply, if you run at any other resolution than that, the picture will look more distorted and ghosting will be more apparent.

So you have a few options:

1) Turn down the details in your games to compensate for the increased resolution.

2) Return your 19 inch lcd and buy a 17 inch, which has a native resolution of 1024x768.

3) Upgrade your graphics card.

HatefluX, I dont think you're quite understanding what is being said here. Put simply - your monitor runs natively at a higher resolution. You cant lower the res, because it will distort the picture. Due to it running a higher resolution, there's more work for your video card, and it cant keep up.

You'll have to get a better video card, or drop your other details to reduce the workload on the video card.

Sorry but if you understand the problem then you dont post questions in forum. First LCD, long time computer user, tone here is sterotypically cynical. Thanx for input. I am crystal on issue now and will be silent...

Make sure you're not running aa/af or anything that you might have run before. Snoop around your nvidia driver tab and check to see that it's on performance rather than quality. Every little bit makes a difference.
I don't think people are putting you down they're just trying to help. If you take it the wrong way, oh well.

I have the same problem as this guy, and i don't think you guys are interpreting his problem right. I currently have my desktop res at 1280X1024 on a TI4800se using an analog cable, which is perfectly fine for the monitor. The thing is, when i play games, the FPS is LOCKED at 75, which is the refreshrate for my monitor. Before, when i played CS, i could play at 100 fps constant. I have tried disabling vsync, still 75 constant fps. I have tried enabling vsync and using refreshlock, still locked. I think what he and I are both wondering is, is there any way to unlock the refresh rate if the refresh rate is what is causing the FPS lock.

You should be able to up the refresh rate in the driver settings. The 930b might not support 100Hz though. Even with an 8ms response time, ghosting would counter any benefit of running with a 100Hz refresh. An LCD doesn't exist yet that will satisfy the needs of hardcore first-person-shooter gamers (to my knowledge, anyway)

Wow, Two people made their first posts in this thread! I'm glad you understand now. Try overclocking your graphic card, my 6600GT goes up to 570/1200 with no problems at all. I can run half life 2 at 1280x1024 super easily (I have a 730B). Before I play a game, I go to the settings, raise the sliders to 570/1200, say test settings, and it's as simple as that. Did I mention C&C generals is playable at 1280x1024 with 8xS AA and 16x AF?

Also using the 930B with DVI, and I have no issues with games running over 75 FPS as long as VSync is disabled in your video drivers, and/or game video settings.

Also gaming at resolutions below the native resolution of the LCD is NOT distorted in anyway. Actually looks clearer than my CRT. It's only desktop resolutions at low res does cause crappy distortions, but I run my desktop at native anyway, so it isn't a problem for me.
