Hey everyone.

Was at my local Sam's Club today and happened upon this monitor. I've been looking to make the jump from CRT to LCD. This thing caught my eye. Specs are as follows:

# 19" Silver LCD
# Inputs: DVI & Analog
# Response Time: 8 ms
# Contrast Ratio: 700:1
# Viewing Angle: 160/160
# Brightness: 300 cd/m2
# Resolution: 1280 x 1024

It was around $350 IIRC...maybe $359 + tax. I mostyly use my PC for the internet, office apps, some minor graphic work, and a little FPS gaming. I've been hesitant to order from the net since I don't want to deal with any dead pixel issues. I asked one of the associates at Sams what if I took it home and didn't like it, and they said I could bring it back within 30 days and either swap it out or get a refund, so at least I'd have a quick resolution if I did have a dead pixel.

Has anyone hear used this model? Any comments? I couldn't find much on it on the net. I'm assuming it's either too new or a rebadged model number sold at the wholesale clubs.

That is the same exact monitor as the Samsung 930B, minus the silver color (much more popular than the 913, I think because the 913 only shows up on Canada's Samsung site).

Edit: That is a pretty good deal, id get it.

This monitor addresses the issue with the N model (no DVI). Good buy, I say. I currently have a Samsung 910T (25ms, 1000:1-700:1 contrast) and if I could get 8ms and keep 700:1 contrast on the Samsung, it would be nice.

Although, if you do very little gaming, I really recommend looking at brightness and contrast much more than response time. My 910T is really bright and clear; it blurs in games to varying degrees, sometimes noticeably, but it is really clear and sharp. Blurring aint that bad; I have played every game I have (FPSs include BFV/BF2 and HL2) on it and it is barely noticeable.

Thanks for the input. I went to Best Buys site and they do have the 930B, and it's the same price after rebate. One thing I did notice after reading some reviews on the 930B is that it does not come with the DVI cable. Since that is the connection type I want to use does that mean I'm going to have to fork over another $50 for the cable?

NP. So which one are you gonna get? Id get the 913T simply because you wouldnt have to deal with a rebate, and maybe less hassle in terms of returning.

Well, the only problem with buying the 913T at Sams is that I'd have to pay with my debit card since they don't take VISA. I like making larger purchases like that with my regular VISA credit card because it doubles the manufacturers warranty. Therefore, I'd probably end up getting the 930B at Best Buy, and cross my fingers on getting the rebate.

Right now, my only reservation is the native image issue. That monitor is native at 1280x1024, which is currently what I run my desktop at, so that's no problem. The issue is that my current PC lets me run the games I play at 1024x768 max, and I've read that running LCDs in non-native mode, especially with fast moving images like games, can make them look really bad with blurriness, ghosting, etc... Any experiences or thoughts on that?

Well, on my 17" Samsung 710T, I often run games at 1024x768, and I see no problems. It handles the rez just fine.
