Samsung 910T LCD

I'm seriously thinking about picking up this LCD very soon. Before I do, I'd like to know if anyone is using it, or knows someone with it, and if they like it or not. Give good and bad points with the display, if you can.

It will be going onto my WMCE05 system for watching recorded programs and playing games. I don't have the space for a CRT, so don't even bother going there. I've been using a ViewSonic LCD that's going on 3-1/2 to 4 years old now, so I think it's about time for an upgrade/update. Especially when the one I have is 17.5" viewable, and the one I'm looking at is 19" (for just over half of what I paid for the one I have now).

If no one is using this display, how about making suggestions on a sub $600 LCD that will do well? I'll probably be picking up a VESA mount arm to go along with the display too (picked out a good one already) so having the VESA mounting option on the display is important.

I was looking at the spec's and price... Since it has the 1000:1 contrast ratio, and decent price, that's why I'm thinking about it. I'd still like to hear from anyone with one so that I can have some real world feedback.

I am currently using 2 910T monitors. I love the contrast ratio on these babies. One of the first LCD's that I have owned that can actually display black as black...not a really dark grey.

As for Samsung inflating contrast ratios, I have heard that before. But having owned a grand total of 16 different LCD monitors, its my belief that all manufacturers inflate their specs by a few percentage points. This is just based on my personal experience. Samsung may not be dead on with their specs but its close in my opinion.

Back to the 910t. I use my main monitor with the dvi hookup and barely see any ghosting at all in games. Also the actual sturdiness of the monitor is good, too many other brands have a flimsy feel too them.

Anything else you would like to know, just ask.

Good to hear about the 910T... I'm about to order up mine, to have on Wednesday. I'm also ordering up a desk mount arm for it, so that I con't have to use the stand. I'll probably move my current 17.5" LCD over to the server and any systems that come in that I need to work on. It's more than good enough for that, especially with inputs for two different systems on it.

I wonder, will it be better to use the VGA or DVI port on the video card for playing games and watching tv (tuner card inside my system)??

I have recently moved over to DVI and I have noticed a difference in picture quality. I do not know the the technical differences between VGA and DVI so I can't really speculate as to why there is a difference. But from personal experience there is a difference, and I do recommand DVI.

Also when I switched from VGA to DVI ghosting became nearly non-existant on my 2 910Ts. Again not sure why. One of those things I will get around to researching in the future, if I can find the time.

I'm ordering up the 910T so that it ships out tomorrow... I have another source that will have it to me on Wednesday for less than what newegg would charge to get it me just as fast. It helps when a warehouse that has it is in the same state. UPS/FedEx ground is the same as next day for me. 😀

I will post up how the new display compares to my current one. I might even put them both on the system for a while (using both interface ports) until I move over to the new one fully. The real test will be to see how recorded tv shows display on the new LCD...

Well, I have the new 19" LCD here, on my desk... I wanted to mount it using an arm, but the desk wouldn't allow it (couldn't clamp it in a place to make it work with the new, main, display). Instead, I'm using the stand that came with the Samsung, and put my old ViewSonic on the arm. I have both displays connected to the same system, and I have to say, the Samsung is a lot better than the old ViewSonic. To put it into perspective, the ViewSonic is over 3 years old, so LCD's were not even close to where they are now, back then.

Anyone thinking about getting the 910T should. If you're looking for a good 19" LCD, get it you won't regret it.

Also, the new, 19" LCD is less wide compare to my old 17.5" LCD. That's due to the bezel thichness on both. My old one is about 18" and the new is about 16.5". That means, I can [easily] fit the new display in less space than the old one.

DVI is definitely a lot better -- you'll see sharper images -- good test is to see the difference on how your windows deskop icons appear sharper upon switching from VGA. DVI is a digital interface, were as in VGA, signal is analog.

I bought the 910T after returning a BenQ FP951. The colors on the 910T through the DVI input are very vivid. I don't play games and will use the monitor strictly for office applications and internet usage. Text and webpages look great - much better than the BenQ, which looked slightly washed out. It looks great on the desk, too.

There are only a few display brands I'll ever consider. BenQ is NOT one of them. I will look at (in order of preference) ViewSonic, Samsung (ties with ViewSonic), NEC, and Sony. I'll leave the rest alone. I once thought my 3+ year old ViewSonic was great, until getting the new Samsung... Now, it's not nearly as strong as it once was. It's still good as a secondary display, but it's not my primary anymore.

Haven't tried a full dvd yet, but so far the display is amazing... If you're looking for a LCD, in the 19" range, get it. The 1000:1 contrast ratio puts it way above all others.

I was originally going to get this monitor, but I am a pretty avid gamer so I decided to go with the 710T instead. Ordered it from Newegg and got it two days early; opened out of the box to test for dead pixels and there were NONE. This monitor is so much more gorgeous than my 17 inch Gateway Monitor, and I haven't even used it yet on anything because I want to experience it on Christmas. 🙂

Does anyone know how does this 910T stacks up against Dell 1905FP ?
(especially in term of color reproduction and ghosting problem)

The 910T kicks major ass when it comes to LCD's... It made my old ViewSonic LCD (that I thought was great) look like crap. Since I'm color blind (see about 1/2 the colors that are there) I'm not one to talk about color reproduction. I do know that with the digital connection/interface, I'm not seeing ANY ghosting. Of course, that's also running off of a 6800GT...

Well, since it's going for under $480 now, what's to wonder about? The thing is very bright, has excellent response, offers dual inputs (DVI and VGA) and has the highest contrast ratio out there (1000:1). It smokes the competition, especially at the price.

If you're looking for a ~19" LCD, just get it and stop wondering about it.

I use this monitor at work and it rocks. However I haven't played games or watched a movie on it. The balcks looks great, with little to no light leaks.

I wish I could get it for $480, but alas, I live here in Canada where all the prices are inflated for some reason. The cheapest I have found it is $600. I guess I'll just have to look for a nice sale.

The solution to that problem is NewEgg. I think they have sales tax to CA, but even then its going to be well under $600.

Edit = I am a fool that reads to quick. Saw Canada as CA for some reason...lol

As they said in the South Park movie... "blame Canada..."
