Samsung 900NF Question

Just got my 900NF from the dell.com deal, took quite a long time to get all the geometry setup just right, but then I turned my monitor off and when I turned it back on all my settings were gone! How do I save the current size/position/geometry settings to the monitor's memory? :Q

Ut oh, there was a certain revision of the 900NFs that had a bug where they'd forget the settings. Someone who reviewed the 900NF at epinions said he called up Samsung TS and they said to RMA it, and the new one worked as it should.

It should save it automatically. It saves the setting you left it at for each available resolution from what I see. I never had that problem with mine before....actually it shouldn't do that at all.

Uh-oh. That sucks. I've had other monitors that "forget" the settings the first time you enter them...so I just entered it again, hopefully it'll work this time. RMA'ing this bigass monitor will be a pain in the ass. 😱

Sounds normal to me. Monitor takes up to half hour to warm up, that is why the manual recommends you have it running for that amount of time before adjusting anything. You'll find that on first boot up your desktop geometry will be totally shot but give it some time and it will sort itself out to how you set it.

Other than the monitor's short term memory how do you like the 900NF?

If you have seen an FD Trinitron before (e.g. Sony G400) how does it compare?

I think I got it fixed. I just fuddled with it a bit and now it remembers. 😉

It's a great monitor -- a beast compared to my old 17"-er. Very crisp text, the color is very vibrant and seems to be very "true". To be honest I've never seen a Trinitron monitor, so I wouldn't know how it compares...

Well, first thing I did was turn it off and then back on and then I just let it sit for 30mins. Then I adjusted it like I wanted, and in the manual it says that if you bring up the config. screen and leave it for 3secs without doing anything it will save whatever changes you made. That worked. 😉

Cool that's good stuff to know, I hate reading manuals. You ordered some 955DF's for work, right?

How are those if you run 'em at 1280x1024? Going to set one up for a friend this weekend and am curious.

Yeah, but I haven't been to my office since Tuesday and they weren't there then. I'll let you know how they run when I get 'em all set up. But this 900NF runs like a champ at 1280x1024x32bitx85hz 😎
