LXi,

I finally found the comments about bowing of lines on the 900nf model. It's from the onvia site.. go to the 900nf page and read the customer comments.

Here's a quote from one (and there were many like it):

Poor Geometry
Yet another Diamondtron based monitor gets an F in geometry. My unit exhibits a downward bowing across the top about 1/3 from the left (about 2mm-3mm). Causing an unacceptable distortion in on-screen elements. Also there were convergence problems (semi-correctable) and focus issues (also semi-correctable). Text at recommended timing was barely acceptable. Lots of overshoot on hard contrast changes. Tried BNC, tried 2 video sources nothing helped.

***************

Has anyone here had similar problems... or is this guy being too picky? ;)

Didnt see anything like that from the ones I saw. Read this review, didnt notice anything weird. I know at least 4 people here who own the 900NF, none of them told me about this kind of geometry problems. Maybe that guy just got a lemon, can't possibly be the same with all of those units.

I don't know if I would trust that review.

"It would be perfect if it had a .22mm dot pitch instead of .25mm"

This monitor is measured by stripe pitch, not dot pitch. This seems like a pretty serious error for a monitor review.

The reason why some units bow and others don't is because everyone has different eyes. I swear, if anyone of these people who say " oh i went through 5 monitors and they all bowed " actually asked somebody else to look at the monitor, they probably wouldn't even notice it. My sony g400 had/has a slight geometry problem in the upper left hand corner and i tested it on 2 of my friend's eyes. My first friend didn't even notice it until i pointed it out to him and my second friend only saw it after staring at teh screen for a while.

So in the end, it's all about diffferent eyes.

Actually I experienced the geometry problem with my Samsung 700iFT purchsed 2 weeks ago, it has been collected and returned under warranty and a replacement will be despatched on saturday.
I have a temporary loan of an 900iFT and it has geometry and focus problems.
I have however seen display models which have been perfect so this may infact be a "common" problem?
Samsung customer service have been very helpful and presumably I will receive a perfect monitor on saturday... :)
I'll let you all know how it goes... ;)

Yup, I've witnessed the bowing problem on the 900NF on every one I have seen.

Once you notice it, it will drive you nuts.
