Ok so I'm looking into getting a new 19" Flat screen. My first choice is and has been the 900NF because of its price/performance ratio. I am just waiting till i can get one for close to $300 shipped. Then I saw the 900IFT at dell.com. I was wondering what kinds of differences there are between these two monitors? And if any of you know where I can find the 900NF for 300 bux LMK!!

thanks!

The 900IFT is a shadow mask monitor, the 900NF is an aperture grill one. The 900NF shall offer you very good quality that you'll have to see to appreciate.

GO with an aperture grill monitor if you don't mind the two horizontal lines across it. The quality is superb. :)

I have been using the 900IFT for a year. It also is a great monitor. I chose it because I had blurry 2D text with my ASUS V7700 GTS2 card on an aperture grill 19" monitor, and this change solved the problem. Other large monitor users have had same prob with AG monitors, and the shadow mask type solves it.

There is nothing wrong with the 900NF displaying text, it's very good even at 1600x1200.

Your problem was your refresh rate probably, not a default one thus the image was less than expected.

I believe that the problem was the combination of the AG monitor (NOT the Samsung, by the way) and my V7700. Those problems have been documented and acknowledged by ASUS and on this forum in the past. I mentioned it not because I do not recommend the AG monitor, but because I and several other people have had this problem with AG monitors and some models of GF2 cards.

This not Nvidia's fault of the monitors (providing it has good specs). It is the problem of those who manufacture Nvidia chipset based 3d cards and use lower quality electronics to save money thus make bigger profits or undercut the competitions price. Due to this cost cutting something has to give and thus the image quality dies, especially at higher resolutions.

I have the 900NF, I researched for 3 months before getting it, love it more than my rig.
No doubt about it, go with the 900NF

I have a 700IFT. I've looked at the 900NF and 900IFT and honestly I prefer the IFT over the NF. Just seems like a higher quality picture.

Since the 900nf is an aperture grille, and the 900ift is a shadow mask, there is a large difference between the two, and you should take some time to find out if you like aperture grille or shadow mask more, thats what I did, and I like them both, but the shadow mask monitors usually arent totally flat, but have like a flat piece of glass to cover up the far left and right curvatures, at least on the shadow mask monitors I've seen.

I have a monitor with the same tube as the 900nf, and thoroughly enjoy it, running at a custom rez 1400/1050 :D

I have a 900IFT and like bdog231 i really thought the IFT had the best picture I had seen!
I haven't seen the NF extensively (I think it was early production when I my 900IFT a year ago) but they both look really good. I had a friend with the 900IFT who just kept raving about it, so i picked one up.. no disappointments here.. even got another friend of mine to buy a 900IFT after he saw mine.. I love these things..
