Well my intel 520 has slowed down considerably since I installed it several months ago so I've ended up ordering a Samsung 850 pro 256gb drive to replace it. I know I've complained about the poor Samsung CS when I rma'd my 840 pro but I couldn't help myself. I won't ever buy such a small 120gb boot drive again so 256 is now my minimum as it was when I bought my 840 pro.

With that said how's the Samsung migration software? I haven't used it but plan to use it to move from the 520 to the 850.

I just migrated a user from a 160GB Intel 320 to a 256GB 850 EVO in less than 15 minutes.

I just did a full sector-by-sector clone with a Startech Imager, but you could do the same thing with ddrescue. Plugged the clone via a USB 3 port on a Windows 7 system, expanded the OS partition and was done.

Yeah, that's how I upgraded last time too.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Is this a new thing now with SSDs? Replacing drives because they slow down? Guess SSD makers have to make money somehow lol.

I find it odd you had issues with their RMA process in the past. I've dealt with them for the last 2-3 years and RMA'd drives on behalf of my customers multiple times throughout that time and never had any issues.

What issue did you have with them?

Getting them to issue the rma in the first place since they use that crappy third party repair facility in NJ. I went round and round with them complaining at least once a day until they issued the rma. When Samsung sorts that process out and gets some consistency in it then it should be akin to Corsair's process which is painless. Even evga has an easy rma process for their products so why can't Samsung get their act together on such a simple thing?

You contact them by phone? I've always gotten my Ticket number for RMA same day that i send out the request, unless its overnight, then i'd get it next day. Since i've called alot in the past, i'm pretty sure I've dealt with every agent in the department. I think there's about 4 or 5 agents that deal with SSDs. What agent did you deal with? I had one i disliked and i tried emailing the guy who originally did my RMA and I've been dealing with him ever since.
